I can totally imagine this becoming some kind of quest “Hello to get the level 3 forum priviliges, what was the “21825th” post that you apparently read 5 days ago?”
No different really from the Twitch streams people “watch” for all those hours in order to get the drops from there.
Just a tip … browsers do have extensions that can scroll through pages at a set speed.
I programmed my keyboard to PageDown once every 5 or 10 seconds, opened a mega-thread, and went to bed.
in case you didn’t know it was a thing (because i told someone a few days ago, and they had no idea) …you can click the middle mouse button, and drag the pointer down a little… it will auto-scroll.
![]()
(or just enter a mega-thread, and hit the button to show the last post… it’ll mark everything as read, and there’s zero wait time)
Well aware, but you can’t do that while you sleep.
sure you can!
The issue I had with that method was that the small blue dot on the right that fades out to indicate that the post has been ‘read’ doesn’t fade if the page is in constant motion. Hence the 5- second delay in my macro.
hmm.
well whatever it takes.
probably the most ridiculous forum “feature” i’ve ever encountered.
it might make more sense if we actually used the wiki function, but ain’t nobody going to leave their post open to be edited by the masses. ![]()
The 20k posts read isn’t a hurdle for me. Last time i looked, I was sitting at about 2.1 million lifetime.
You don’t have to read you can just scroll down slowly so it registers as read.
