In retail (Dragonflight), I have a level 15 Blood Elf Rogue, who is in the Ghostlands. He just got the Pick Lock skill. However, he can’t open any locked chests there, they all seem to be bugged? Any chest there, when I try, I get the following errors (I have no add-ons loaded): Right click chest - “You are too far away”. Click Pick Lock skill, click on chest: “Out or range”. I am literally standing right next to the chests of course. This happens with any Burial Chests and Primitive Chests in the troll areas. Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? Thanks!
Update: Okay after literally standing on top of chests, I can use Pick Lock. Standing where the cursor shows I can interact with it (literally right next to it) isn’t apparently good enough1
From how it used to be, you gain a certain level of lockpick skill based on what level your character is. This is a change from the traditional method where you leveled up lockpicking by opening locked containers.
I strongly suspect that you aren’t of a sufficient level of lockpicking skill due to your low level.
You see you need the pressure from your feetsies to get the lock in the right position.
