I have the skill on my hunter to make a rank 2 enchant but I cannot use my concentrate to make it rank 3. If I select concentrate, it will say ‘expected quality 2’ no matter what I’ve tried.
I’ve tried to reload ui, disable all addons, change out and in mats, profession tools, use way more mats than I need to use way less concentrate, using vellum or the item, taking items out of my warband. All still show rank 2 enchant.
That means your aggregate skill doesn’t reach what’s needed to reach R3 even with max concentration. Since you don’t give details, it’s impossible to diagnose, but it’s not a bug if you can’t reach R3 because you don’t max out every variable; you’re not supposed to.
Best quality tools, maximum skill, maximum profession specialization points allocated to support the enchant you’re doing, and best-quality materials.
Skimp on any of that and you’re not entitled to R3.
Well, I tried to mitigate your kind of post but it seems like it still wasn’t enough. I have the skill, have made r3 items before and used concentrate just fine. It is also happening on my rogue too (JC) even though I have near max concentrate and likely happening on other characters, regardless of every other thing being changed and still being able to normally make rank 3.
I’m going to run repair and see what happens since there is almost no interaction with this thread.
Download CraftSim, it will give you the skill details. If you still can’t figure it out with CraftSim, post a screenshot.
Ran repair, cleared out cache and wtf folders and still have the issue displayed. Cleared out cache again, wtf folders, all addons and it finally made a rank 3. Made another rank 3 enchant on my hunter while it was displaying ‘expected rank 2’. Made rank 3 material with concentrate on my rogue while it was displaying ‘expected rank 2’. Reinstalled my WTF and Interface folders and went to make item on rogue w/ JC and it was displaying ‘expected rank 2’ but made rank 3.
Perhaps the repair fixed it and that’s just how things are normally displayed or there is a display bug and a bug where it’s not taking our concentrate. Somesort of complicated user error is also possible, of course. I can’t attempt to recreate bug again because I am out of concentrate on my hunter.
I’ve seen this issue before with my own professions sporadically, even though I’ve had them all maxed out in spec since the middle of June (and only Blacksmithing took that long). It’s definitely a display issue, which wasn’t always caused by an addon since I was seeing it with them disabled too until I killed the cache folder.
Generally-speaking, the scenario doesn’t exist where the UI is properly showing you’ll make Rank 2 with your current skill and materials combination can’t concentrate to Rank 3. As long as you have the minimum required skill for Rank 2 prior to clicking Apply Concentration, you’ll make Rank 3. Did this a bunch with certain things early on that I was still weak on spec for but wanted the Rank 3. No recipe that would cost more than 1000 concentration from base skill Rank 2 to Rank 3 exists.
You need only the skill to reach rank 2, which they have, for concentration to guarantee rank 3.
This does appear to be the case. Its happened to me too - my Tailor is about as maxed out as you can get with professions gear, talents, materials, etc and it still says expected R4 and when I make it, its clearly a 5. It doesnt happen every time buy often enough to be odd.
