I just found out about this “feature”. How do you mess up fishing?
Just chiming in to point out I discovered this bug as well. I’ve been flying around Frostfire trying to fish in the lava pools to no avail, but seem to have no issue fishing into the ocean- and have fished into shallower water in Pandaria.

Has anyone found a solution? I’m unable to get my level 3 Fishing Shack due to this bug!
So I am having the exact same issue. For any of you also having the issue, I have tested every single lava pool in FF and here are the coordinates for the only lava pools that were fishable for me.
First, both lava pools in horde garrison near the herb shack, and both the large and small pool in front of the garrison are all good to go. (The pools directly west of garrison did not work for me)
22.5 / 25.6 Circle of Blood
32.3 / 16.4 Frostwind Crag
70.4 / 40.8 Altar of Kron
While fire ammonite schools were present in many other lava pools around the zone, only these few were fishable pools, meaning I was able to cast and didn’t receive a “Your cast did not land in fishable water”.
The best route I’ve found, assuming you can only fish from these pools and fishing from schools seems to be guaranteed enormous, is to start at your garrison and check those pools, then head to 22/25->32/16->garrison->70/40 then repeat.
Sure hope this helps a little bit until this gets resolved. I also reported this as a bug to blizz and let them know that this has been an issue for a while so here’s to hoping they fix it @blizzard. Feel free to try other pools and I wish you luck.

Just bumping this by saying the Fire Ammonite pool that spawns at Bladespire Citadel in FF, 45.20, 77.92, still works.
70,40 works got 20tg in 2 days. but at least it works. grimfrost hill
Jesus, do they not know what testing is ? How hard is it to go check something out after you change it to make sure it’s not broken now. I want to know why they even had to change it anyways when it was just fine. Blizzard has been so awful lately with their changes runing stuff and them pretending it is all good. Meanwhile unfortunatelky we are all paying the price. Wake up you fools !
(Sorry have had a rough night of dealing with other issues like this one giving me grief so I needed to vent on this one a bit)
As of today, it’s still not working. I was able to fish at the Circle of Blood. However, I actually caught a Fire Ammonite lunker in Nagrand (an actual fire ammonite school at 79.7, 49.7) that gave me credit for the Frostfire Ridge part of “A True Draenor Angler”. I went to another area to get the Fat Sleeper for the Nagrand credit.
Not sure if there are other schools like that in Nagrand (or elsewhere) but it’s worth keeping an eye out until they fix this issue.
