Hi there folks!
Paladin trying the boss. Trying in General as no pallies seem to be available to help.
I ran AQ for the first time in years and got to Viscidus. I equipped my 1-hander with elemental force on it from my bank(kept from when I used to run it regularly) and went to work. Freezing him goes as planned but for the life of me, I can’t get enough physical attacks on him to take him out. I get very close but no cigar. I’m using a 1.75 speed weapon and I’m only using crusaders strike and templar’s verdict for physical attacks after popping wrath on freeze.
What are the tricks you employ to get enough smacks on him in the allotted time? It was never this hard when I used to run it regularly so I guess something has changed in regards to physical attacks that paladins have.

You need pets or trinkets that summon pets. And more haste ya. And frost enchants.

The frost isn’t usually the problem, it’s how many time the boss has to be hit after he freezes. Even with drums it is very close and impossible for some specs.
It would be nice if they fixed it so you just needed the frost damage and that alone was the special mechanic.

Yeah I had to put frost enchant on my weapon to kill him.

Sounds like your short on attacks. Might try going prot as they have more one hand attacks. Or you may need a friend who can dual wield.
Bring a mage. Lots of bored people sitting around looking for something different to do.
Btw he goes off frost spells not just attacks.

Something that deals frost damage (or counts as it) Drums, ALOT of haste, Fast 1-hander, Trinket that summons pets (the more the better), any way to increase the number of melee hits for him to shatter.
Name of the game is freeze it and get a bunch of melee/physical attacks in.
…Which is also no longer current content. They applied legacy buffs in the past and removed mechanics that are unsoloable, why not debuff that?

i remember people using enchants on weapons to make it possible. are you doing the proper strat?

well i figured that part alone nullified your argument about Viscidious (which is what the topic is about)…but ok what mechanics would you put in place of the freezing & breaking him? just run up and knock him over?
and for the record, i don’t know what other “reason” you were referencing…i just re-read your post and you said

If I recall, you can get a sword or something from the Lady frost giant town in Northrend that does frost dmg. I will edit if I find the scorce.
