Unable to complete or see quests in the Maw using Threads of Fate

I’ve exhausted every possible option that I have as a player. I even leveled a third character to see if it happens again. There’s a bug with my character.

The issue is a problem (I believe) with the Bolstering Bastion quest, the Kalisthene NPC, and selecting your covenant after accepting the quest from Kalisthene in Hero’s rest. The wowhead profiler tool shows I haven’t completed it which is correct. It also says where to pick up the quest BUT I CAN’T. Several other people are having the same problem.

I even paid for a month of the Zygor addon to see if it could help me find the missing quests so I can start making progress. It’s pointing me to the same problem.

The simple summary is this.

  1. I hit level 50 and entered Oribos after the escape from the Maw stuff.
  2. I selected the option Threads of Fate (on my DH) for how I wanted to level.
  3. I was sent to Hero’s rest to pick up Bolstering Bastion which I did.
  4. I returned to Oribos and selected the Kyrian covenant.
  5. I went to do dailies and quests for Bolstering Bastion credit but I wasn’t getting any
  6. I abandoned the quest and went back to Kalisthene in Hero’s Rest. She didn’t have the quest for me.
  7. I went back to Oribos to talk to the NPC by the command table and it said to go to Elysian Hold to pick up Bolstering Bastion.
  8. I went to Elysian hold and Kalisthene (who is also there) didn’t have the quest.
  9. Now I’m stuck and can’t make progress.

What does that mean? I have the quest from Elysian Hold to rescue souls in the Maw. I enter the maw and try to rescue souls but instead I get a 10 min buff and no quest credit. I do not see the Eye of the Jailer. I do not see dailies in the Maw. I do not see the regular quests. I do see the NPC near the entrance to Torghast when you drop in but he doesn’t have any quests.

I don’t need a hint… I need real support. The game/quest/character is bugged.

Maw quests are not available until level 60.

Drop this quest and see what happens. There may have been an issue with the order in which you did things above.

Perhaps, but it’s likely something that is easily fixable. If it is a bug, Customer Support cannot do anything, unless they have been given a workaround. You need to post in the Bug Report Forum.

I posted in tech support, they said post here. I post here, you say post in bug reports. The runaround is real. If you took two seconds to look at my character or read my post more closely you would see that I abandoned the quest and attempted to obtain it again multiple times. Also, I am level 60. It shows that right next to my character.

How do you intend for another player to look at your data, I wonder? The only people who have that ability are the ones that post in blue.

Regardless, yes-- if it’s a bug as you claim, you need to be posting in the aptly-named Bug Report forums for QA to investigate.

It shows I’m level 60 right next my avatar. /facepalm

I’ll post in Bug Report section too. Why not. I’ll just deal with more responses like the ones I’ve gotten already.

I don’t work for Blizzard. I’m just a normal player. So please don’t attribute what I’m telling you to Blizzard; I have just been in this forum for many years.

You are saying something is “100% a bug”. If you believe that, you want Bug Report. Tech Support is more for hardware issues, or working on connecting to the game, etc. If you’ve encountered a bug, you want to report the bug to the correct place.

I said to drop the quest to rescue soul from the Maw. It’s not supposed to be available for anyone below level 60.

However…

This is a completely different scenario. The “Bolstering Bastion” quest (and the equivalent quests for the three other zones) are no longer available at level 60. That’s why you’re not getting them.

(As for what I believe is a bit of sarcastic attitude, you never mentioned that you were 60. The only thing you said is that you hit 50 in step 1. You left out a big piece of information.)

You need to do a questline to unlock the Maw. I believe it would start at Bolvar in Oribos.

After that, not once did you mention anything about leveling all the way to 60. In this case, that little tidbit makes ALL the difference.

People often post on one toon, but refer to another toon. You even said that you leveled a third character, so you have alts.

Before yesterday my quest log was empty. After the Tuesday maintenance completed, I picked up all the weekly quests in Oribos, the PVP quests, etc. That’s all that’s in my log.

EDIT: Probably not worth mentioning this, but I did complete the Covenant campaign yesterday. Went back to Oribos and still no Maw related quests.

Unlocking the Maw is part of your covenant’s storyline (and you can’t start the campaign until you complete certain parts of it).

This is not adding up. Chapter 2 of the campaign is not available until you complete the Maw questline.

Did you switch to Kyrian from another covenant? And what is your renown level with the Kyrian?

Give me a moment. I’m going to log in and take a few screen shots that will make it more convincing. You are right that something is not adding up.

To answer this question, no I did not. But I did select a covenant AFTER picking up Bolstering Bastion from Hero’s rest. What I noticed after selecting Kyrian covenant is that I was no longer making progress in Bolstering Bastion. That’s what started the chain of dropping the quest and trying to find it again. To be even more clear, I wasn’t 60 yet when all this happened, so I should have been able to make progress and finish Bostering Bastion.

FYI: I have not done any quests in the Maw since hitting 60 and its been two weeks. I’ve literally done every quest I can find in Oribos such as rescuing Jaina, Thrall, etc. from Torghast. The weekly dungeon quests. The PVP quests. All the covenant callings, etc.

My renown advanced not from rescuing souls, but from the catchup mechanic and the collect anima and covenant quests.

I’m really convinced my character is bugged.
