Unable to Access BNET Launcher (or Games) when using a VPN

So I usually use a VPN when gaming etc, but just today when I’m trying to launch BNET app or side step it and launch WoW or WoW TBC I simply cannot connect.

I am able to connect when I turn my VPN off however.

Any solution to this or am I SOL?

Contact the maker of the VPN and ask.

It’s also fully possible that Blizzard is blocking it on their end as well, since VPNs are commonly used for account fraud, boosting and gold selling.

VPNs are not against the rules, but they are not supported either. Also, Blizzard does not block IP addresses, so this would not be the case.

Ya I’m usually using VPN’s while playing to either watch different countries Netflix’s (because Netflix sucks like that), or watching anime from sketchy sites because its not on Netflix, Chrunchyroll, or HiDive while playing WoW.

That’s not 100% true, but alright. They probably don’t block VPNs outright, but will cause them to behave in an unstable enough fashion, that you’ll want to disable them.

Also, a lot of ISPs don’t like VPNs anymore and will make the connections unstable on purpose, without directly blocking them, trying to pressure you into the same result. Some ISPs are also sometimes configured to put VPN traffic in lower QoS priorities as well.

Point is, lots of services on the internet play whack a mole blocking/throttling new VPN IPs as they pop up. Wouldn’t surprise me if Blizzard does it sometimes.

Yeah, you probably shouldn’t be talking about committing crimes on the forums. Not the best idea…
