I’ve noticed a few times now, if you kill Ultraxion too fast or too early, you can’t loot the chest. Super annoying if you’re trying to get the mount from him! Just beware… It’s easy in our rush to get it done to just blast him the second he turns hostile.
Side note: I already have the Experiment 12-B, thankfully! But I did miss out on loot a few times before because of this. It happened again just now, as I’m still running for the Blazing Drake.

things like this generally don’t get “fixed”, because they’re not deemed as broken.
blowing up bosses too quickly can break scripted fights.
kill the boss slower.
Still not fixed in 2025. You can’t really kill Ultraxion “slower” when you 1-shot him.
hmm. I got nearly 200 kills on this boss and never had this issue until just now but its super annoying. postmaster doesn’t even send the items.
Killed Ultraxion on my mage doing the mount farm. Chest unlootable, no loot through the Postmaster. Then I see this is a well-documented unresolved bug since at the very least 2019. Stay classy Blizz, small indie company

Happened to me today. So when I went into DS on a different alt (mage), I tagged him with a Mecha-Blast Rocket first, since I didn’t have any abilities that wouldn’t one-shot him. You can probably use a taunt on a tank or Tranquilizing Shot on a hunter (anything that will start the encounter but not do damage).

Consider using lower damage spell or bare handed attack to slow down the DPS and give the boss more time to rifle through the loot table and stuff them in the chest.
Just had this issue pop up twice while trying to do mount farms. Very frustrating trying for a mount to find out an issue caused you to lose your whole once a week per a character chance.
First time I thought the loot would just come in the mail. Nope. Thought was just a random glitch. Did DS on another alt. Same issue. And then I looked up and found this thread.
Blizzard, DS is part of the Collector’s Bounty event, so I’m sure many people are having this issue and it’s taking an increased chance to 0% chance.
My first try with level 80 character 617 ilv i one shot it insta with my hunter BM and no loot. On next character i removed weapons exchanged it for any 120 ilvl weapon that hits for max 25 damage removed head, chest and legs and made my character to be around 400 ilvl and when boss spawned after 5 sec i would hit it with auto attack and on every alt i was able to loot without problem. Works 100%.
still broken, got loot from other four bosses just fine from the $90 bruto mount
I having been having the same issue and when I put in a ticket they said they were unable to find any reports for similar issues, but clearly lots of people are having this problem lol.
Same thing just happened to me a few minutes ago.
I’ve run DS three times during this collector’s bounty event. Hunter twice and paladin once. The paladin had no problems looting the chest even though she one-shot it. The hunter also had no problems last week. But just now, the chest spawned but would not open.
Very frustrating since we have only a limited number of opportunities for this mount during the event.
Pretty cool to lose an alt’s weekly lockout to this on a limited time event I must say.
Too bad this event and the issue doesn’t concern the top 0.1% of all players, otherwise, as always for the “pros”, this would have been fixed and catered to within 30 minutes of discovery. Absolutely f***ing ridiculous and pathetic
