Uldum is a leveling zone everybody will have to tread on, unless you are full heirlooms. While the zone is pretty good looking, questlines are as linear as the others there is a couple of things that make this place distinct, and they are not good:
Unskippable cutscenes: shouldn’t be a thing nowadays. I’m not against the whole Indiana Jones roleplay, it’s actually amusing, but I’d rather not have to deal with the cinematics more than once though. Pressing ESC should skip them.
Vehicle Quests: the worst case of Retailitis resides in this area. The leper gnomes, the fort, the strategy games with the lions and then the troops, and so on. It gets pretty bad. An option to skip this, even if forsaking the rewards, would be welcome. I want to play my character, not a vehicle.
That’s it. I think it would significantly improve the experience. Right now Vashj’ir feels like the most optimally designed zone to speedrun compared to Uldum. Many players would be glad to see changes similar to these.
Uldum is not a zone that everybody HAS to tread on. It is completely optional to quest here. I have 4 toons at 85, 2 of which never stepped foot here to quest.
The only reason to step into Uldum is so you can get some rep to get the tabbard, other than that you don’t have to. I enjoy Uldum but I will agree the cut scenes (that you can’t escape out of) do get old pretty quick.
I really, really enjoyed that zone. Cleared the whole place, was fun. All quest were short and sweet.
The cut scenes are not that serious, you can alt tab, grab a beer, smack your partners butt ( yeah right you aint got nobody:joy:) like where are you zooming too that this is even a complaint.
I like Uldum, but I’m biased just because I like the Egyptian type theme and all that.
Vash and Deepholm are the zones I don’t care for. Deepholm is super linear, and Vash is just…well, Vash. Gets a lot easier with the seahorse mount, but still a pain.
I usually level through Hyjal until 82-83, then I might go to Vash for a level and then hit up Uldum to 85.
Funny enough this round I didnt find them at all tedious like I did in OG wrath. I am just chalking it up to more patience and really not concerned with anything but raiding.
