Hi, I’d like to recommend increasing the number of 252 pieces that drop from Ulduar HM encounters.
Currently teams receive (1) 252 piece per kill. I propose increasing this number to (2) or (3).
The goal of this proposal is to make it possible for raid teams to collect all the pieces they need from Ulduar prior to ICC as well as reduce the difference between raid teams that run splits and raid teams that run as a single group.
For my experience, my raid team has cleared Mimiron HM 11 times and Vezax HM 16 times, and received 0 Conductive Seals, as well as only 2 Flare of the Heaven pieces. Our casters and healers are incredibly frustrated, myself included. We’ve had a lot of trouble keeping casters in particular rostered in part due to a perception that loot is distributed poorly, when in reality the challenge was always with the Ulduar loot system. Further, the roster issue compounds as we then need to bring in PUGs to fill, resulting in even greater scarcity of resources and furthered enmity between raiders, bench, and PUGs.
I don’t know how it is for melee, but I’m sure we’re not the only raid team suffering as a result of the creative-if-flawed Ulduar HM loot system.
Players don’t have fun running Ulduar anymore, 25 Hardmode Ulduar is only for Guilds and GDKP. I have 5 Alts and Couldn’t find a single 25HM Ulduar in LFG channel (Faerlina). All my alts has 5k+ gs by only doing TOC 25 Normal and Heroic. Everyone is skiping Ulduar HM and only guilds are running for BIS items and Valanyrs. Just nerf it.
even if blizzard increased the amount of drops, if you’re unlucky you might still never get what you want because current RNG drop system fail so hard.
I’d suggest that they make additional {unlucky-counter loot system} where each boss you kill drop a coin based currency just for that boss…for example:
-when you kill Algalon it drops “1x Algalon Essence” and when you kill Vezax hc you loot “1x Vez HC Essence”
-have a NPC In Dalaran where you could Exchange 16x Vezax hc Essence for 1item out of his loot table “[Flare of the Heavens] cost 16x” so if you was unlucky and failed to find/get that item for 4xMonths and new phase is about to arrive then you can get 1item out of that boss for your 16x kills.
they should also make this for current tier raids tbh, it will be nice to know that you have a granted 1item if you kill the boss for 16x times Aka 4Months because it feels so frustrated if you farmed a boss for half year and never seen certain item drop at all.
I wouldn’t be opposed to a system like this, although I think it overcomplicates having a currency for each boss. I’d rather see an “Ulduar Essence” of some sort that drops from HM kills that could be used to purchase any hard mode item. If you want to keep it somewhat gated you could require the achievement for specific hard modes to purchase pieces off that boss.
Truthfully it’s probably too late for it to justify development cost and time - I hope P3 doesn’t go on long enough to matter. I’d say just nerf the place, but I get that they want it to stay relevant longer.
i agree that more currency might be over-complicated but then i would suggest that.
once you achieve your 20xkills on Algalon a window pop-up in the game telling you “Gz on the 20th kill, now pick an item from the boss loot table” you choose a certain 1x item and that item get sent to your in-game Mail.
with this you will not be frustrated if you was never lucky to get a certain boss item you wanted even if you spent half year farming the boss but never seen it.
It would be great if they doubled the amount of hard mode drops. We’ve still only seen 1 armbands of bedlam and i think 1 or 2 conductive seals since ulduar came out. If they want to encourage people to keep running Ulduar, keeping loot scarce is not the way to do it. Sidereal essence already killed 10 man, and the only reason people do 25 is because a lot of people got screwed on loot for an entire phase because of how hard mode gear was handled. That and valanyr I guess.
It really should’ve been changed to 2 per boss when p3 came out, and sidereal essence should drop from 10 man hard modes, if not both 10 and 25.
Hmm. I’m not sure how I feel about this. Ulduar was decently fun for a time, but I sure don’t want to run it weekly during scheduled raid time in phase 3.
I had the same experience, I would put myself in the LFG tool and check it occasionally every night, but I could not find a single pug Ulduar 25 HM last week that wasn’t GDKP and the guilds aren’t filling groups without HR the items what people want to do Ulduar for. I posted on the Faerlina discord in the LFG as well with 0 success.
Ulduar has been so horribly handled they wanted it to stay relevant, but most people I know are just saying screw it and not going to ever get the Ulduar BiS items.
I was excited for ToGC because I figured I could run that on alts and get them geared up enough to do Ulduar because ToGC is significantly easier than the previous raid tier, but I guess I’ll just run a few 40min trial runs and log off till ICC. At least with Ulduar I was raiding 8-12hrs between the few runs I was in.
Because who in their right mind would try to organize an Ulduar HM PuG (more than once)?
People are going to dip so fast after you do a boss for the loot they want, or if you wipe. At least that’s been my experience, while GDKP incentivizes people to stay to completion.
I agree, I mean most people are picking up stuff in TOGC, but there is still super good loot in Ulduar that is locked behind 1 drop. Repeating the same bosses every week to get the same drop over and over is just such a time waste. It’s not like blizzard hasn’t made major changes to WOTLK already, at this point you might as well just add drops since it’s not even close to the original experience.
Sounds too guaranteed for my taste truth be told. Raising HM loot from just 1 drop per kill would be sufficient I believe in getting more Ulduar interest.
