UI Resetting itself and profiles getting deleted

So since yesterday maybe 24 hours ago or, every time I turn off my laptop and then turn it back on for the next day of use, my plater, details, and Clique addons profiles are deleted, nothing is saved.

Ok so I redid those profiles not too much of an issue, but then I took a break midday and turned laptop off and then back on after my break and this time the opening cinematic started playing for me and I got all the pop ups as if I were brand new to the game.

Along with the above issues (addons profiles being deleted) ALL of my WAs were deleted as well.

It seems like anything that is saved to where the WoW folders are saved may be corrupt and not allowing them to save permanently? I honestly dont know where this issue came from since I have not used my laptop for anything other than gaming, schooling, streaming, watching youtube/twitch.

Please if this issue has happened to anyone else or someone knows a solution let me know!

Edit: playing again just now 0923 I killed 1 rare and then got the popup saying that I unlocked the major rep Iskaara Tuskarr meanwhile ive had that unlocked since the first week of expansion

Hey there Jambowarrior,

Thank you for reporting this with these details! I’m sorry to hear that your addon profiles keep getting deleted as setting them up each time you launch the game sounds like quite a pain. There are a few things that can cause this, but since the problem surfaced randomly, the issue could be isolated to the game folder’s permission setting. Before checking that, let’s try the following steps that can resolve this issue specifically for World of Warcraft:

  • Log into your character and type the following command into the in game chat box: /console synchronizeSettings 1
  • Reset your in-game options to resolve a potentially mysterious settings-related issue.

If you have no luck, make sure your game installation folder is not set to Read-only. Then disable OneDrive syncing and Controlled Folder Access.

If those steps have no impact, try resetting your User Interface, and then retest.

Note: This process will return your game client to the default interface in order to rebuild core game files. If you wish to keep any addons you play with, I recommend moving the ‘Interface’ folder to your desktop temporarily (the Interface folder from Step 6). Once you have completed the UI reset, you can then go in and move your addons over to the new ‘Interface’ folder one at a time to see if it was causing the issue.

Hopefully, one of these steps does the trick. Let us know if you have any questions or additional trouble. Cheers!

So my laptop had maxed out storage somehow and im not sure where it all came from, i have minimal things on here. I just got rid of xsplit gamecaster, steam and i forgot the other big one but i freed up 6gigs of space (and havent had issues with UI since) and now suddenly its getting maxed out again and i am worried my UI will start the issues again.

Any way i could get help on what may be eating all my space on laptop?

Or, if I have to hard reset my laptop to factory reset, how can i save my UI when i reinstall wow?

Howdy Jambowarrior,

First thing I would try is reinstalling the game to make sure it’s not corruption there. If that doesn’t help then the factory reset might help.

Here is how to export your UI.

  1. Press escape
  2. Select Edit Mode.
  3. Select the layout you wish to export from the dropdown.
  4. Open the dropdown and select the Share option.
  5. Select the Copy To Clipboard sub-option.
  6. Create a blank text file on your PC, and paste the string you just copied into the new file.
  7. Save that text file somewhere safe.

To use a UI that you previously saved to a text file:

  1. Copy the entire text from the text file.
  2. Go into Edit Mode.
  3. In the layout dropdown, select Import.
  4. Paste the text from your clipboard into the Import Text window.
  5. Give it a name and click the Import button.

Thank you for the reply!

How can i keep my current addons and WA’s? Ive heard something regarding the WTF folder and addon Folder. But i am not sure where to save my WTF folder, addon folder and the UI export.

Do i need an external hard drive or is there a website i can use to store it digitally?

Also, is it normal for a laptop with 12gb of RAM to be at 11.8-11.9 while playing WoW and on discord with nothing else open?

Howdy Jambowarrior!

You can save your Interface folder to the desk top before reinstalling the game. Once the game is reinstalled you can copy and paste it back into the game folder. But we do recommend playing with out addons for awhile to make sure everything stays working, once you are sure it’s working then add the folder back, if the issue comes back you know it’s the addons.

For factory resetting the computer you can save the folder to a thumb drive or any backup site like google drive.

WoW will use any available memory it can while you are playing it, this is very normal for programs to do but it should allow some to be used by other programs if they are opened while WoW is being played.
