Pretty solid requirements if they are not disallowing add-ons that pertain to these displays. If you can’t get customization for these things elsewhere, then I would say you have to go well above what was expected from some add-ons. IMO.
So I would add the following under ideal conditions…

Resource bars:

  • Waypoint Arrow for quests or target.
  • Class power display options runes etc could be circles, runes, stars, etc and resizable.

Cooldown Manager:

  • Option to convert an action bar(s) into a Cooldown Manager(already do-able to an extent I guess but it just copies the Action bar instead of having to use the action bar. Can choose to keep/display keybinds or not.)

Unit Frames:

  • Basically Cell, but better. Some click option stuff.

Nameplates:

  • Portrait pops up on nameplate if NPC is talking In-Game.(e.g. Have a good one!)
  • Name/Frame/Health each able to be colored based on either Class/Threat/Health.
  • WeizPvP’s addon’s crosshair but more options. (e.g. arrow points towards the NPC/Player the nameplate represents, set maximum number of plates that do this for enemies or allies.)
  • Circular minimal nameplates that fill from bottom to top.(e.g. Friendly plates are small circles for HP bars which shows Class Spec or Role symbol, Portrait, or Custom color in the background, Enemy plates are set to default)

The UI customization is what really separates this game. Been a sub holder for… jeez cant count the years, but day one and Im now late 50’s still playing… That said, I guess if they want to take away the things that set this game apart then what’s to stop sub’s from going to somehting like ESO which I also have played heavily in the past but again. WoW has always been the best due to the customization of add ons. If they can, in fact, do as you folk have described above??? then maybe there is hope for the game. Im not opposed to chang, but make it better. Don’t start messing with people’s custom options. There are so many it’ll never please all of em who are now currently pleased, paying and playing. Games do this crap all the time, but not Wow… until now. Last of a dying breed.

I would like to see mouse click down to activate abilities like you see in Bartender and Elvui. Currently, Default UI only has key press down to activate abilities instead of on release.

Cooldown Manager:

  • Custom positioning/sorting of icons

Custom backgrounds and custom nameplates

…unfortunately we seem to be on a set of rails towards having to learn to play Ion’s game the way Ion wants us to play it, full stop.

Cooldown Manager

  • Growth from center

Instead of left/right typewriter-ing. So distracting having your entire bar shift off-center when a new icon adds to it.

I agree with @Mahlzaen that these are pretty solid requirements, but I think they are better placed in the Midnight Beta forum. If you don’t have the Epic edition for access, I can re-post your suggestions with a link to this thread.

It’s not even beta now. This is a fundamental requirement of retail.

This UI is absolute garbage right now. I seriously question who in their right mind thought that having the buttons fill bottom up was a good idea. They need therapy. And a lesson in basic UI design.

I have to question why, in 2025, we’re failing core, basic features that have been in Bartender since 2008.

This UI is so unbelievably garbage and bad that addons have been the only thing making the game playable for decades, and they’re killing them because they’re SO BAD AT GAME DESIGN that they blame people using addons to compete with that TRASH DESIGN for why it’s trash design to begin with.

This will 100% be the thing that kills WoW if it isn’t fixed. People need time to transition; launching of patches/prepatches that break it isn’t time to transition.
