I know this is a longshot, but hopefully someone here can give some advice.
As I’m questing (usually in combat), my whole UI disappears. It will flicker on and off a few times, then is totally gone. It’s more than alt-Z, as that leaves nameplates up, and this problem gets rid of ALL UI elements. I can blindly type reloadui and get it back. I may be in the game for an hour or more before it will happen. Sometimes it happens after 5 minutes. I can’t find anything that causes it regularly. It’s not local to my computer, as my wife has the same addons, and experiences it as well.
Not sure which is causing it. But since it happens on both computers, it is most likely one of the addons. And since it happens so randomly, just disabling some may not help at all.
There are two things that I’d suggest before maybe heading on over to Tech Support.
First, do a Full UI Reset and do not reinstall any addons. In fact, make sure any addon managers you might be using are disabled. That way you can rule out a faulty/corrupt UI or addon too.
If that doesn’t do it, try running a Repair on your WoW installation and see if it fixes any files.
If neither of those works, then I’d head on over to the Tech Support forums for more assistance (unless this happens to get moved there or if you edit your first post to move it there yourself )
Could you please unmark this as solved, as it still isn’t solved. I had already done both of those things. The repair didn’t find anything. The full reset didn’t really help, as it still happens when I put the addons back in. So I know it is an addon issue. I just don’t know which addon (or maybe an incompatibility between addons) is causing it. That’s why I said it was a longshot.
What addons are you using? Take a full inventory, and then turn them on one by one to find the offender. Alternatively, this might be the time to just re-do your UI all together, pare down what you’re using.
Are all of your addons up to date? I am not familiar with most of these addons so can’t comment directly on individual ones. You might want to go to the pages where you acquired most of these and see if others might have been experiencing issues with one of them, that might help narrow it down.
So, there is a listing in my first post. And turning them on and off one by one isn’t practical, as it isn’t a consistent thing. I could be on for more than an hour and it doesn’t happen. Or I could be on for 5 minutes and it’ll happen.
There is some bug with the UI beyond that happening. I logged on the other day and had an error message pop up and every setting got set back to default - real pita. I would be inclined to make a bug report, not go to tech.
It’s been happening more often lately for me as well despite only having less than 10 and no big boss or damage or other player info.
Stuff like handy notes, pawn, coordinates, and WQ maybe two others…
I’ve done all the stuff the green said plus making sure they’re updated and it still keeps glitching - so, it’s not just you.
Hmm, judging by the other people having this issue, the add-ons you have in common are BugGrabber, Altoholic, and the pet battle ones. It’s one of those, going by process of elimination.
You also have some redundancies in your UI that could be causing compatibility problems and overall performance degradation. ElvUI as its base has the same functionality as ArkInventory, BlizzMove, Move Anything, and TitanPanel.
Elvui Bag module isn’t anywhere close to ArkInventory in features offered
MoveAnything has the capability to manipulate ALL (most) frames and not just “standard” frames. If I make an addon and create a frame MoveAnything can manipulate it, Elvui can’t
Having this is pointless if you have Elvui or MoveAnything though
It is. But I’m not sure that will solve the issue. Like I said, it happens on my wifes computer as well. She has all the same addons I have (plus a few others). We didn’t copy the files, we downloaded them directly. So there isn’t any files from my computer on hers.
That would make it an addon issue, rather than something in the WTF and cache, right?
I would suggest that you do a process of elimination. Do a complete reset and then install one add on. Try that for a while and see if you get a repeat disappearance. Then if not reinstall a second. Try and be patient, it may take some time.
Note: How did this end up moving from CS to General Discussion?
In any event, I just wanted to add that if it’s only happening when you re-install addons after the Full UI Reset that I linked, then it’s almost definitely an issue with one of your addons. As others have mentioned, try adding one at a time back after a UI reset to see which one it might be. Then contact that Addon author to see what they can do to fix it.
This really should have ended up over in the Tech Support forums.
Lastly, understand that a Blue chose to mark my previous reply as the solution, not me Only you as the original poster or a Blizz employee (blue text) can mark a post as the solution. I do believe you can change it though to another post if you want to!
