I’d be open to the occasional legacy set unlock if there was a reasonable barrier of obtainment. Like maybe win 25 games above 2200 while a specific expansion’s timewalking is active
I’d rather nothing than some freebie unlock system though
Imagine people trying new classes and seeing 10x more different comps than u do now cuz there is no barrier to entry.

I understand that some people like that sense of progression and I get that however, im not saying remove gearing from pve.
If you like gearing the PvE side of game is waiting for u ; )
There seems to be a bit of confusion here; gearing isn’t really an unpopular aspect of pvp.
Its a required activity, dnt think you can says its popular though

Gearing up is fun, a goal, something to do, etc.
PvP wouldn’t be greatly improved by just having vendors with full bis for 1 silver a piece.
WoW is a big game with many different types of players, this part can be expanded on while keeping everyone else happy.
For PvE, sure
I think it would, I think increasing the accessibility by removing gearing, removing the leveling requirement and making it f2p would greatly improve the game.
It would be 10x easier to try out new specs and stat builds
end of the day though its on the devs to properly balance the game and make fun classes

I think we’re forgetting that arena is just a very small part of the game that wouldn’t last a day if it weren’t inside wow. Like, sure, instant gearing and stuff might be nice for those who just wanna queue but they aren’t really the majority.
The more inhibiting things are the dated premade-only 2v2/3v3/rbg formats, lack of means of networking, learning curve, bad ui, macros, addons, etc, etc.

yea its only small cuz there are a million barriers to entry, times change its not wrath where it was like the only huge pvp game out there.

wow is absolutely the only game in town wrt its type of gameplay, and i think it would fare way way better as an esport divorced from wow

Just like cross faction arenas, probably something they needed to do like 10+ years ago.
Yeah, I suppose it’s a matter as to how much it changes, or, like, the extent to which it’s supported as its own mode. Basically ported arena bad, improvements made to finding partners as well as a spruced up UI good.
Now there’s something we can agree on, the base UI and there do need to be better ways to network.
Yeah, they’re far bigger problems than the gearing. As for the leveling/questing that’s a little tricky because just giving somebody a max level char with 50 abilities, the current talent trees, no macros, etc, is just asking them to lose interest.
Kind of wish macros had a bit of a template option like weakauras added.
ya I mean they need to get 2-3 basic UIs setup and just pay these addon developers already, and just have people enable and disable them as they please, without the need to install them from a 3rd party app.
In terms of macros, they probably just need to be given at this point, like @cursor macros and things like sap/rake stealth macros, druid pet root macros, arena123 macros for things like cc.
One reason why rocket league is so popular, is because at the end of the day its just soccer, really easy to follow, get ball in goal. But wow already has the issue of there’s like a million things going on at once, so they somehow need to make the game more visually appealing, without pruning spells or dumbing it down so to speak. I see the casters miss some really big plays in awc, just cuz theres so much going on and its not always clear whats happening.
But anyway one reason im very against lvling, gear, and sub based game is because there are already so many keybinds+macros+UI things to even just get started with.
I know keybinds are a pretty personal thing, but even having 1-2 default keybind setups would probably be immensely helpful, then let people customize from there. Same with UI

I don’t hold some great attachment to my Elite sets of the past. As much as I LOVE the Elite Red DK set from Legion S1/S2 I would be find with people earning a replica version of it. Literally tagged as “replica”
