Not sure if I’m doing something wrong or whatever, but demon hunters absolutely wreck me every time I face them. Is there a key to beating them? Is DH just better or am I just bad?
Use necrotic strike. Only use runic power on death strike, and burst him with cds. Dead Dh

Try not to pop your apocalypse before his eye beam. And like Akatsuki said, use runic power on death strike only.
I’ve only run into one DH I couldn’t 1v1, and I think he had the +2000 versatility buff from WQ, even then it was close.
Ok here is the deal, use Chains of Ice as much as you can, to Semi Kite them, have Necromancer Bargain, Transfusion and Abomination, on neck Conflict and Strife. Kite them until you have runes to deal damage or you "can " deal damage. Example, Outbreak- Festering, Icy chains, DONT HIT DMG yet, only AFTER the blade dance. They do the first one, then pop Soul Reaper and Apocalypse, start kiting and get the ghoul on monstrosity.
Then probabbly either he/she/it, will either fly to land the fel lances or close the gap with fel rush. Lances use Anti magic shield, fel rush use death advance and keep kiting. This will foce Blur keep kiting and kiting, every time you see the animation for chaos strike, do Death Strike, dont waste on death coil.
After he used blur then use Abomination, and go in, only hitting either Necrotic or any other ability AFTER Blade Dance. That is why Necromancer´s Bargain is so useful, just need to hit once. Keep kiting necroing and permaslowing it. While playing defensively. Then the DH will die, i assure you.
Should we ever be using scourge strike? I watched an 8.2 vid which explained the rotation as spamming necrotic strike but I may have misunderstood
Necrotic is better due to the constant Leech DHS have, and it is more of a hit and run situation.

I wouldn’t spam necrotic right away, by the time you get those globals off for a few necrotics you will be at half hp and zero runes. Open with your pve rotation, including clawing shadows, chains of ice, and dot, don’t just stand there and let us wail on you.
And from a DH perspective we aren’t just going to stand still and let you necrotic or apoc us, I like to bait the AmS and when it’s off nuke you with fel lances. There is two sides to every story, and starting off with necrotics when you have done nothing beforehand is not the answer. Necrotic strike is used to Seal a kill on an opponent at 25-30% hp.

Lol what? You think you’re going to have an uh dk at half hp when they have death strike to counter your burst?
And no one is going to pop ams when we can just interrupt your eye beam.
What usually happens is the overconfident dh comes in and pops everything and gets outhealed by death strike then panics and uses death from above which I ams then he comes back down and either dies or runs.
Edit: And in a PvP setting no one uses SS and definitely not clawing shadows… infected claws is a way better talent for more fluid wound generation for necrotics and damage.
