I mean, like a third of the playerbase plays those elven females, but I never found Barbies to be attractive, I enjoy more curves, not thin sticks.
The Venus figurine is more attractive to me, lol. It’s big in all the right places.

So. On paper, blood elves are my favorite race, tied with undead. Wc3 blood elves looked amazing. Dark. Angry. Brooding. And they looked like mentally disturbed addicts. I loved them. Then they showed what they looked like when the announced burning crusade. I had never been more disappointed. Posh. Super model lean. A spattering if heavily groomed facial hair. Bleh.

Ugly is diverse! Ugly is unique! There are only a few ways to be pretty, but an infinite variety of ugly awaits! Want to stand out from the crowd? Ditch those perfectly symmetrical features and carefully styled hair. A lurching, rotting, flesh-eating corpse will leave all your PUG-mates in awe!

I agree with this (kind of, pretty is fun too).
I play females in this game, not because the males aren’t attractive - but because the models are just bad. They are not well done, sure they were fine for 2004 and then a “modern pass” of 2004 character models, but they kept the weird AF arm ratios and roblocks faces.
I think the night elf guys with the one good face option are hot

I used to think all the dudes in this game were ugly except male blood elves but I think the enhanced character customization options and transmog options have made it possible to make most of the races look pretty good (even traditionally completely ugly races like orcs)
being unique and interesting isn’t exclusive to being ugly or pretty,
sometimes a characters goal is to be repulsive, to be hated, to make others feel unsease
other times a characters goal is to be charismatic, to be beautiful, to be idolized.
Appearance is only as unique and interesting as the way it’s used. Zombie#134123 isn’t unique and interesting, neither is damsel in distress#25138
though in general I’d rather look at pretty things than ugly things.

I honestly feel every race in WoW has been a bit neutered from their War3 versions.
Night Elves? Savage like Amazonians, now reduced to tree-hugger status, and mostly just victims. They used to be the aggressors.
Orcs, yeah they barely have a story anymore after WoD, lol. No Warchieves* (spelling?) anymore.
Elves are basically just magical Humans on the Horde at this point, there’s nothing to differentiate them. They used to be magic addicts, and now that’s all forgotten or “taken care of” so they can just live like Humans.
Even Forsaken lost their edge, Calia the Lightbound Undead is coming to save the day and make everyone non-violent.
It’s boring.

Maybe because everyone tries to be pretty, you end up making yourself stand out less than if you weren’t pretty lol.
It’s kinda ironic.
People can’t help being born with ugly faces, but they can definitely help working out for a sculpted body. I judge attractiveness based on body, not faces. I’m very egalitarian that way.
Oh, and personality matters too, I guess.
I can’t tell you why. But ugly male characters are all that I play.
So someone else out there other than me must find them appealing.
