UBRS in Classic

TBC player here, I never got to experience it in it’s original form. So I was wondering what’s the typical group comp? What type of gear will people expect you to have to go into the dungeon?

I’m not big into raiding so my goals are to get whatever BiS items from dungeons I can and get tier 0 and .5

Two tanks, two or three healers, and dps comp does not matter that much.

Mages are useful for numerous reasons, especially since they are vending machines.

A hunter is often used to kite the last boss out of the room all the way to the previous Bosses room. (This is done to kill the boss adds, UBRS for really brutal for some people) This method is definitely not required.

Other then that? You just fill your tanks and healers them bring whatever dps you believe you think you need based on yours groups needs. UBRS was not really aimed at forcing specific comps. You could take all mages or all warlocks if you wanted. As long as you could kill bosses nothing mattered imo.

Edit: in regards to gear, being under level 60 is considered a rude thing to be and often see others who bring lower levels is considered a scumbag thing to do (Assuming the group isnt all in raid gear and attempting to gear new guild mates or friends) while being level 60 is not required it makes it easier. You should have most of your 5man dungeon preraid bis or craftable bis (outside of epics) this is to make it easier on the group.

Like i said none of this is “required” but alot of people suffered in UBRS

Two Tanks
2-3 Healers
Rest DPS, 1 hunter to kite Drakk.
Try to bring a skinner for beast (if its guild run, expect the skinner to keep hide if not)

They won’t expect you to have any type of gear for UBRS. Long as you’re lvl 60. All classes will be wanted.

Takes about an hour to two hours to clear. MC/Ony will eventually take this amount of time (or less), so if you had a spare 75 minutes… you could raid too if you want.

Tier .5 was extremely hard to get back in the day, due to people not knowing the mechanics too well of the dungeons. Some may argue it isn’t worth it, but to people like you and I (I am in the same boat, I may do some 20-mans but not going back into 40-mans again lol), it is an amazing and fun challenge, and the rewards are great.

But yea, you had a typical 10-man group, which is two tanks, 2-3 healers, and 5-6 dps, with a hunter being almost mandatory for the final boss (as stated above).

And no paladins, they may try to get priest shoulders and pull all the whelps…and be happy they at least have their chicken.

Since we’re getting the 1.12 version of UBRS, it’ll be 10 man, as opposed to the original 15.

In 10 man, you wanted 2 tanks, 2-3 healers, and the rest DPS. It was super beneficial to have some good CC in there as well.
