UBRS bosses and kiting packs of mobs

1: UBRS bosses are not marked as “?? Boss” but rather “62 Elite” like when Blizzard overhauled it for LFD (It was still 10 man when LFD launched and thus by far the hardest dungeon, because you only had 5). This is not a case of me saying it’s harder/easier than it was, but rather they are labeled erroneously. Even in BC and Wrath they were still marked as “?? Boss”. At the absolute least Drakkaseth, the Beast, and the first boss (fire elemental) were.

2: When a mob is kited, the pack it is tied to does not kite with it. From vanilla to Wrath kiting a mob would also cause the mobs tied to it to follow as well, even if they were not constantly being tapped to keep them in combat, this does not happen in classic. I know since a hunter and I used this to easily kill Demetria (the Scarlet Oracle) when all 8 of her guards should of been following her the whole time. Instead they reset after she was pulled far enough. This has also happened with other packs, but that one is most notable due to it being a rough fight otherwise.

I’ve notice I’ve been able to cheese a couple of quests by splitting a mob from it’s escorts that I could have sworn wasn’t able to be done like that in vanilla.

they changed the difficuly of the dungeon when they tweaked it for 5 man

you can do it 5 man now, but its more difficult expecially the last few packs before drak

I said it wasn’t a “this is hard/easier” just that it was a wrong label.

This has nothing to do with “smart pulls”, mobs aren’t being tied to the packs. The courier in Arathi or the Badlands ogre can be moonfired and pulled out singly from the middle of a group of bodyguards they are surrounded by.

dude i remember doing this on solo ZF runs on my hunter, you could split pull until they fixed it in a later patch.

In this build, split pulls still work.

In the examples you mentioned, the adds sometimes follow, but u can kite and maintain a dot on your target and split it off. Did this to solo Yowler.

Yowler is not tied to any other mobs however. He is nearby them, but not in a single pull. I am also not sure how you split pulled ZF because mobs don’t reset in instances.

Every single video from 2006 and even from 2007 shows Drakkisath as a ??. Look how amazingly HD this video from 2006 was, I don’t think I’ve ever seen one from that era looking this good; it even has 720p option:

?? Elite or ?? Boss? Yes the distinction is important.

Regarding your first point, I must also bring up Teremus the Devourer. I saw him the other day listed as a level 60 elite! I can almost guarantee that he was a ?? Boss until Cata.
