Imagine if the dark side of Elune is actually the master Sylvanas claims to serve. Tyrande’s quest for vengeance inadvertently made her a tool for the very enemy she most hates.
Wouldn’t it be “SHOCKING,” IRONIC, and at the same time wreck the heroic fantasy for anyone who wants to play a heroic Night Elf character, as well as for any fans of Tyrande?
Do you imagine this would stop Blizzard?
I don’t really think this will come to pass, but uh. Do those better versed in lore than me know any reason this couldn’t be the case?
As far as we know Sylvanas doesn’t have a master. She wants everyone to serve her as she masters Death.
Now the idea Tyrande and Sylvanas unknowingly working the under the same person would add fuel to the Elune is an Old God rumor that popped up a couple years ago since the old gods aren’t exactly shy about infighting. The idea of putting two strong opponents against one another to ensure the strongest is the one used is an Old God tactic after all.
In all honesty I feel that it’s better odds for Elune and Bwonsamdi’ master to connect in some way (either as allies, enemies, or even the twist that Elune is Bwonsamdi’s master) as far more likely than Blizzard having Tyrande unknowingly helping Sylvanas.
Can’t wait to see the virtol thrown at blizzard when its revealed that Vol’jin is Elunes new chosen one as Tyrande has lost her way.
I wouldn’t put it past Blizzard at this point but I think they realise going that way with the story is gonna get them more hate than they are already getting.
Their marketing philosophy in BfA seems to be “anger / controversy = engagement = $$$$$$.” So I don’t count outrage as a strike against dumb ideas.
Oh. Well, in that case, I was just using “dark side of Elune” as a play on words meaning just “Elune,” and you baited me into thinking they was lore that there ain’t.
This whole thread exists because this idea struck me randomly while I was on a walk, and I Just needed to share the combination of evil glee and horror it gave me.
Do we have a clear sense of Elune’s Motives? Serious question; my lore knowledge is limited.
Probably they will just Lie to the player base again at the next Blizzcon promising big things and a proper resolution to the Night elf story in the next expac. However it won’t be at release and we will need to wait on the patch content.
The only reason it couldn’t be the case is because it wouldn’t make Tyrande a tool for Sylvanas any more than it would make Sylvanas a tool for Tyrande. The latter would actually be closer to the case because Elune was Tyrande’s mistress long before Sylvanas even existed.
And we know anything Sylvanas says is 100% reliable?
I was thinking that considering the Arcane using Lunar Wolf Moonfang on Darkmoon Isle as well as the N’Zoth eyes around the place as well as the Isle’s resemblance to Thros the Blighted Lands I would assume that N’Zoth has been impersonating Elune since the Night Elves’ creation.
As you said that Blizzard would not hesitate to wreck the Night Elf Culture since after all they wrecked the Forsaken Culture without hesitation!
Where would N’Zoth have discovered Elune? There is a Void God in Uldum’s Halls of Origination(which we broke into before the Twilight’s Hammer showed up) so there were Naaru on Azeroth before the Night Elves came to being.
Yes I’m suggesting that Elune is a pure Light Lord(gender unknown) and N’Zoth passed himself off as Elune using Lunar Arcane Energies!
N’Zoth has been able to send a C’Thraxxi straight into the Heart Chamber before being released from his prison and that was shortly after Legion where Arcane Tendrils from the Moon took Ysera into the sky turning her into a constellation.
If N’Zoth can send a C’Thraxxi to Kalimdor on the 2nd-3rd furthest zone from him then he can a year earlier easily send Arcane Tendrils right into the skies above Val’Sharah(which is very close to his prison) and create an illusion of a Lunar Eclipse while making off with Ysera.
Sylvanas didn’t so much say it as she did think it. We were shown her thoughts concerning Elune(which she mentioned to no one). She honestly believed Elune was defying her and knew that other Cosmic Forces would defy her as well.
Thing is elune has assosation with 5 of the 6 firces of creation well 4 or 5 deornding on if you see night warrior as void or death. Elune has a far larger powerlist and wider range if assisations than the old gods who just seem to have void. Also can you show me this void god in the halls of origination or proof nartu cane to azeroth way back when
The void gods there are likely just blizz reusing modles it would not be the first time.
