Speaking of Tyrande…
I’m leveling one of my allied races through Val’sharah and I started thinking. I know the meme for this zone is “TYRANDE WHERE R U?” “WHERE R U MEH LUV” etc. etc. but I have another question:
Is Malfurian as obsessed with Tyrande as she is with him? I mainly play Horde so my Alliance dialogue is a bit hazy. I know she talks about how much she loves him and calls him pet names all the time but the only instance I can remember of Malfy doing the same is when it’s not him. Seems like he just stands there, staring off into space while she professing her love.
This zone makes me think of Tyrande as one of those women that will swallow every pill in her medicine cabinet if Malfurian goes to a lan party instead of staying home and watching KUWTK with her. She’s always chasing after him and acting bat crazy.

I was more or less directing you to read about the community perception of him as a self insert. There’s plenty of material out there.
Oh, I see
But how about you just tell me why you don’t like him

Oh, mostly because the self insert theory actually holds water with the change of his appearance and direct nature of his relationship being established as romantic with Sylvanas only AFTER Steve Danuser got a hold of him.
That, and he’s written like the guy who power emotes in RP. His survival alone doesn’t make sense versus Tyrande if she was supposedly powered up. RedShirtGuy has a pretty lengthy post on it.
To be honest i didn’t think of Nathanos much until Dark Mirror. It read like a creepy self insert fanfic made less sexually graphic for the normal audience.

Lol
Fair point. But even by taking all that under consideration, I don’t see why he’s so hated. There are other characters out there that urk me more than this guy.
Different strokes, I guess
I mean when one factions heros are like 90% demi gods, we need SOMETHING to keep us even…
I do get you there. It may be that he’s more commonly hated so it echoes more. People love to gripe in crowds. I certainly hate characters more than him, but self inserts rub me the worst of the wrong ways. Particularly in a faction game.

This is EXACTLY what Sylvanas fans claim she is some kind of martial genius and able to win and hand to hand combat as well.
It would be nice if the Sylvanas fanbois can come to a consistent conclusion. Does 10K years of being a general of the elves mean you can fight hand to hand? I mean at least Tyrande fought in the war of the ancients, didnt powerslide into Frostmourne or lose her homeland until self insert boy needed his love interest to look strong after all those years of failing.

Skills of Sylvanas were shown pretty clearly when Scourge besieged Silvermoon, then she was shown as expert on guerilla warfare when she fought against Scourge and Dreadlords in Lordearon, fought at Icecrown etc. etc. Also you act like she is still ordinary elf, except for her obvious experience she is also magically being powered by death magic, that quite helps as well.
Also are you aware of the fact that those animated videos are artistic imagination of those events right? This argument about power sliding to the Frosmourne is just so overused and really dumb. Do you also think that Daelin Proudmoore literally rowed the ship or maybe just maybeee it was visual represenation of Jaina´s guilt and phantoms of the past? Whoever mentions power sliding is either demagogue who takes whatever bits he can out of context to support his narrative, or is … and i hate to say it… completely dumb. I believe it is the first case.

It often gets overlooked that Malfurion was there alongside super-Tyrande too, and he’s a major powerhouse himself.
But even combined, Tyrande and Malfurion pale before the might of an undead human archer.

but sylvannas destroyed teldrasil and most of the night elf population on azeroth one worthless ghost doesn’t feel like it can really compare by any stretch

It also gets overlooked that Nathanos had the Horde Champion by his side, is being empowered by a Valkyrie and has a small army of Death Guards and Kaldorei Dark Rangers helping him.
People seem to underestimate how powerful their character is. They want to be a nobody but we’re not. It’s impossible to be a nobody now. We’ve done too much and grown too strong.

Horde champion isn’t relevant unless the Alliance champion also is.

The Alliance champion is relevant but they don’t show up (and vice versa for you guys.)

Nathanos is self-insert of a mediocre blog-level writer, don’t expect him to die, wouldn’t be surprised if he could hold his ground against Elune herself, hell, even Azeroth the titan.

tyrande barely even fought in the war the whole war is novelized and chronicle didn’t retcon it she spends most of the war healing the wounded then armors up to fight in 2 countem 2 battles then gets captured and sits in a bubble until deth’ramar frees her and she then flees to mount hyjal as the sundering occurs. there are several time jumps in the wota trilogy but it only mentions the male cast fighting in battles inbetween books or chapters. tyrande is not a hard veteran of 10k years of war it is a nelf main meme alongside the one where tyrande is azshara’s rival despite them only having 1 conversation with each other.

You realize that in a good war novella the horde is scared poopless of her and purposefully attacked Teldrassil because she was in Stormwind at the time? They were worried that her and Malfurion alone were going to fend off the horde.

Not together, either one of them on their own. Saurfang’s opinion was that either renders conventional armies obsolete.

being wary of her magic is not the same as being wary of her strategic mind of which tyrande has 2 brain-cells one that says malfurion and one that says mudda moon
