I’ve always been curious about this: are there different types of stealth?
Like are rogue and druids stealth “worse” than an invis pot?
I’ve heard this before but never knew if it was true or not. I’ve heard this mostly in m+ scene trying to do skips. I kind of just chalked up a Druid or rogue pulling while in stealth just user error.
But is there any factual evidence to support the claim that invis pot is a “better” stealth than a druids or rogues stealth? Or is it just user error?
Think of a typical skip in m+ where an invis pot is needed but say a rogue or Druid just uses their class stealth, does the invis put make the user, for lack of a better term, “more invisible” than the class stealth from rogue or Druid?
Best 2 I can think of right now is the skip of the last pack on the second bridge in KR right before the 3rd boss
Second: the skip down to the first boss from the start of TOS.
I’ve been able to complete both successfully with an invis pot but I also know those skips aren’t the easiest because they’re pretty tight safe spaces to get by the pack without pulling.
I’ve seen rogues and Druid pull in both situations. I can’t say for certain if it was user error on their part or not
Stealth detection mechanics mean that an enemy can potentially see you and you have to be more careful. IE: a rogue/druid has to care about line of sight, is the enemy looking in your direction and has to careful about their stealth level and what not.
Invisibility is complete invisibility. Nothing can see you unless it has a special ability to see through stealth and invisibility. If an enemy can see through stealth and invisibility, it tends to have a little eye icon above the head of the enemy. If they have this, it doesn’t matter if you are stealthed or invisible, it can see you at the same distance as if you were just normally visible.
Stealth is supposed to be the classic, non magical sneaking of using shadows, silhouettes and obscurity to avoid detection. But then we had a cutscene featuring forsaken rogues that were actually just straight-up magically invisible, so who the hell knows anymore.
Whats interesting is there are different levels of stealth. Like when you use Vanish you go into a better stealth than normal for a few seconds before going to normal stealth. I would be curious to see the detection differences between the two and if Shroud is greater or normal stealth.
For practical purposes there is no difference. I can’t think of any situation where druid stealth doesn’t work just like invis. That’s why druid cat form stealth should be either completely removed or only be usable as a feral.
