While you can at least fly down the hole to the Ringing Deep and then the hole to Hallowfall is nearby, or you can take a portal from Dornogal to Azj-Kahet, there’s still this massive issue of having only one real way to get anywhere. DF fixed this in a lot of ways for most zones by allowing you to essentially fly in a circle if you wanted to, or cut diagonally, etc. Going from AS to OP was easy, and you could go from waking shores to OP or to Thal, etc.
I’m really not digging the lack of options. And yeah, I know there’s another hole for the ringing deep outside of town, on Dorn, but it’s mainly this forced route. Oh, you are in Dorn, and you want to go to Hallowfall? Cool. Fly DOWN THE TUBE, around the corner, and then across the zone if you are needing the west part. There’s simply a lot of forced flying, for reasons I can only surmise as we are intended to time-waste.
From Ringing Deeps you can go directly to Azj Kahet (or vice versa).
There are 2 ways into Azj Kahet from Hallowfall (or vice versa).
There’s a portal from Azj Kahet to Dornogal (or vice versa).
There are 2 mining shaft transports between Isle of Dorn and Ringing Deeps. One of them puts you very close to the passage from RD to AK.
Fair, it’s definitely not an airport terminal, and I do enjoy all of the zones. I just loathe the constant travel to do anything. There needs to be some shortcuts you can earn in ways beyond doing a +10.
Wowhead article from yesterday I think? You can use the follower dungeon queue as a fast travel to Hallowfall, albeit with a couple of loading screens. Queue up follower Dawnbreaker, once inside speak to Steelstrike and choose the option to leave the dungeon.
BAM! you’re at Tenir’s Ascent.
It seems fine? Ive no real way to judge tbh but sl was hated for its story and its ppwer grinds. Ive not heard of complaints with its map layouts and what I have heard comes down to the zones not being connected
Follower dungeons, queue Dawnbreaker, run out lol.
Don’t report me, I learned this from WoWhead.
Blame them, not me.
That being said, the zones are actually connected, on-foot no less. I saw a winding pathway that went from Ringing Deeps to Azj’Kahet, was really surprised and now I want to traverse it via ground mount.
It was a very treacherous path, lots of opportunities to fall.
While I’m not really a fan of throwing fast travel into MMOs, it does feel significantly worse to have to travel there vs anywhere else because everywhere else has a fast path or portal.
It would’ve been slightly better if the Spider Hub was more North, near the (Western) slipstream to Hallowfall. Given the City of Threads takes up the southern position I think that would’ve been fine. Spiderville → Slipstream to Western Hallowfall would be reasonable if Spiderville wasn’t halfway down the (fairly large) zone, and also at a significantly lower height.
