Lately, all we’ve had is a series of short bursts of content where you have to grind for “cool cosmetics and a bit of gear that will soon be obsolete”. The story content has slowed to an absolute crawl. It seems like the game has fallen into a lazy cycle of “mid-patch” junk that is meant to tide us over until we get the next full patch. I’m starting to feel like my time’s being wasted. Is there a good reason to play this game any more?
If you want story? No, maybe not.
The story in this game is told in 3 parts consisting of maybe 5 cut scenes totaling 15 minutes, and quests 95% of people dont read.
How they deliver their narrative sucks and they should do something about it.
All these ADHD mini quests are to fill our need for new and different content in 15 to 30 minute bursts to avoid boredom.

If you’re not enjoying the game then there is no point logging on.
You can always pick it up next season when they lift the ilvl and remain competitive.
There are some good books set in the warcraft universe if you want to enjoy the warcraft through a different medium.
Still a lot of guild progging mythic and heroic raid. There’s also M+ and PVP if you are into that. And then there’s collecting which can go from being super casual to a bit tryhard. If you want to earn the CE mount + glad mount every season along with whatever super grindy mounts Blizzard comes up with, for example.
This may be the most interesting reply I’ve received on a gaming forum, at least in a very long while, given the basis in post-grad pedagogy. Makes a ton of sense. Thanks!
Honestly if it’s starting to feel like you don’t feel the game is worth your sub listen to your heart.
Pretty hooked this year but I’ve taken periodic breaks of 6-7 months when I get bored or busy.
Is there a good reason? Probably to raid above an LFR level.
Sounds like it’s time for a break and some new gaming. Everyone needs breaks!
