This is just my personal observations but it seems like the new zone is a ghost town. Two weeks in and there already aren’t enough people around to do the digging events or kill the 100mil hp rares. There was only ever one group for the Undermine world boss every time I did the quest on alts this week when usually there are dozens. I don’t do M+ anymore but I see people everywhere complaining how astronomically long the queues for it are. The entire campaign could easily be done in a little over an hour but for some reason was timegated over 3 weeks. The raid seems fine but nothing to write home about and just more of the same old goblin cliches. It feels more like a Motherlode mega-dungeon than a proper raid.
Lastly, almost no one I play with has come back for season 2. Whether because they got burned out with how long season 1 was (one of the longest .0 patches in the game’s history, second only to the SL .0 patch when the pandemic hit) or because they weren’t excited for Undermined, I can only guess.
Speaking for myself, I don’t think I will stick around either. Overall TWW has been a very lackluster expansion aside from the introduction of the hero trees, many of which were also hit or miss. The story has been meandering and seriously lacking cohesion tied together very loosely by Xal’atath just going from place to place for seemingly no reason other than to make us follow. The new zones all feel like they were cobbled together with old assets that were only slightly altered. Dorn looks like Ironforge studded with gemstones. The Ringing Deeps are Zaralek Caverns 2.0. Hallowfall uses Boralis architecture painted yellow instead of green. And Azj-Kahet is just purple Nerubian buildings.
Idk if I have just become disenchanted with the game after 20 years and thus see the flaws more clearly but it seems to me that quality control has seriously deteriorated recently after already having been more or less on a downward trajectory since Legion.

Depends on the content. For raiding we are alive and well. Cleared Normal and working on Heroic. For some reason Raiding is a lot easier than Mythic+ this expansion.
As for Mythic+ its dead for my group. Not worth the trouble even with our own groups. If you are hoping to pug it good luck. Even for a +2 groups want 650 ilvl.
Delves are fun. Already out geared the rewards of course but they are enjoyable content.

Main reason im not there is that there is current no reason to farm, to get the good stuff you need higher renown track. So after doing the weeklies and world quests theres 0 reason to stay.

Could be because of sharding or could be because people are doing the raids, M+ or delves.
Personally, I have been spending more time in delves than anywhere else in the game for the past week.

It’s packed!
Can’t friggin’ move in Undermine, cars everywhere, players everywhere, goblins everywhere.
There was a line outside the Street delve, the Hotel is still overflowing with players.
Yeah it’s dead alright.

That content in particular just sucks and doesn’t really offer anything. I would imagine most people are raiding or doing keys. It’s true that the zone doesn’t have a lot to offer past your first couple of hours in it, but based on nothing other than gut feeling I would bet things like M+ will have a higher overall participation rate in S2 than they did in S1.
Many people who used to rely on world content to do things like upgrade their gear, are instead doing it in delves, now.

For me it is the opposite.
Raiding, we have more people than ever and will have to sit people for Mythic
For M+ I usually just PuG because of my playing schedule but there have been so many groups in my guild running at all times, that I have been running with them as well.
For world content, I see people everywhere, I have been in 2 large world boss groups and I even got into a medium sized group for a world soul.
Seems ok to me. Seems either overly hyperbolic or just a strange experience for you.
People went there last week cuz thats all there was, with season 2 they all went to do content

A few days ago I thought the same thing about Undermine, didn’t see a lot of people around and I was the only person at one of the rares.
Then today I switched on Warmode and holy smokes was it busy! It was crazy how many people were running around doing the WQs and fighting each other. Honestly it was super fun driving around and just seeing huge battles out and about in the city.

That’s the downside to timegating and weekly limits. People finish early in the week and then they are done. There’s alts, but a lof the renown stuff can’t be done again on alts either since the rep is warbound.
Many of us casual are spending our time in delves now.

Idk if thats accurate for m+. Im 639 and i get acceptes to m+ pretty quickly. Now wether thats cus im ret or something else idk.
I just havent had a problem with 2-5 keys. Above those ilvls though i agree. Its kinda tough to find ppl.
Depends on server. Depends on time of day. Depends on time of week.
Probably because they finished their weeklies and the rares drop nothing of value.
Because we only need to kill it on one character a week now.
Sounds like they just don’t have interest. That’s not indicative of the game as a whole.
I hope you find something you enjoy.

I had big goals a few days ago, but I picked Cyberpunk back up and been playing that. My sub is good for like a year but now I’m considering taking a little break and playing other games a bit more.
But man, I really want to go for that rogue elite pvp set.
I think Undermine is also heavily phased. So, what may appear like the zone is rather lightly populated, there may be 100’s of instances of it on a server you just don’t see.

Are people supposed to stand around farming rares all day at 20 rep a pop or something?

You can finish it this week. You just have to kill Gallywix.
This is probably the biggest issue. As some of you may or may not remember, it was only a few days ago that there were threads being created on the forum complaining about the lag in undermine. I was also getting hit with it pretty badly. So what does blizz always do when they get these reports? They split up zones to ever increasing numbers of shards. Unfortunately the result of which is you playing with fewer and fewer people.
Blizz needs to stop spinning up new shards of zones with caps of maybe a dozen players and actually finally fix the underlying networking tech of the game. Their refusal to do so is literally killing the game at this point. As it is you could switch off half the servers tomorrow and a lot of people wouldn’t even notice due to how few players they have. There’s a very good reason why people keep fleeing these dead servers for the high pop ones and then end up contributing to this sharding problem.

The raid uses the zone as the raid zone.
That’s pretty cool.

I don’t know if it’s dead, I’m sure it’s not, but going off of Mythic+ runs, it’s probably going to end the week like 600k-700k lower than Season 1. If it wasn’t for the nerfs that Blizzard did, it was tracking to be closer to a million less lol.
