TWW Release Date AUGUST 26th (Xbox Showcase June 9th)

EDIT: Expansion launch August 26th.

Original post: I received an email this morning about the E3 replacement showcase happening tomorrow, June 9th at 10am Pacific Time. This is the contents of the email:

Watch the Xbox Games Showcase and discover what’s coming to Battle.net and Xbox, Lore!

On June 9th at 10am PT, join us for a double feature viewing of the Xbox Games Showcase immediately followed by the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Direct.

Get ready to take in exciting announcements from Blizzard, Activision, Xbox Game Studios, leading creators, and partners from around the globe!

In previous years, Xbox has used this June showcase to talk about games releasing in the next 6 months. Do you think we could be getting a release date for the War Within tomorrow?

At an xbox event? I wouldn’t count on it. Maybe some kind of preview for the Diablo 4 expansion though.

EDIT: Well hot damn! Happy to be wrong!

They’re part of Xbox now, so it’s not entirely off the table. Bethesda was added to the Xbox Showcases after they were acquired.

I’d be surprised if there isn’t something WoW related. Whether it be a release date for TWW, or an ad to pre-order and get beta access.

Never say never I guess. But I’m not going to bet on it personally.

But unless WoW some other Blizzard property is coming to Xbox I don’t think it is likely. Bethesda was part of Xbox announces because most of their games release on Xbox as well as PC. I would concur with Magnarok, it’s probably Diablo related, or maybe.,… M A Y B E… Something related to an upcoming Blizzard IP coming to Xbox.

And to head off your next question, I don’t think it will be WoW coming to console. Blizzard BARELY even supports controller support on the one platform it runs on. The amount of spaghetti coding that needs to be done to integrate to Xbox as a form for the game itself is super super unlikely this soon. Unless, of course, a lot of things were happening in the backroom with MS/Blizz before the acquisition to facilitate this (which is dubious at best).

This could be fun. Heard any rumours of potential projects in the works?

Was not going to ask this due to a complete personal lack of interest in owning a console ever again. If it ever happens, great for the people who want it. I am not said people.

It would be an add-on nightmare.

As long as we get the option to turn off cross play.

Didn’t GeForceNow just recently announce DF/SoD/CataClassic were coming to their platform? Could be something along those lines as well.

Other than the knowledge of it all ready being out there, I suppose it is possible. I also think this is actually not a great move. Unless the service itself will be/stay free… I see no reason to possibly pay a service fee to also pay a sub fee to play a game that I also still have to buy expansions for.

The Xbox Brand now also encompasses Microsoft’s PC Gaming properties as well.

So, there’s a chance.

There is nothing that says that every announcement on the show absolutely has to be Console-related.

As much as WoW on Xbox would rock my world, I wouldn’t hold my breath on that right now.

I’d bet more likely, a Diablo expansion announcement for Console, and MAYBE a TWW release date announcement for PC.

Blizzard already showed their cards at Blizzcon they won’t have anything to show for a while.

Release date is August 26th

so another half-baked wow expansion…

If you are a shaman, yeah.

So yeah… I totally got that one wrong hahaha, I guess they ARE announcing WoW stuff at the xbox stage

So early access Aug 23
