TLDR - I approached TWW with an open mind and have been enjoying it. Read more below.
Alright here we go i’ll be concise and quick like a TLDR with a little bit extra.
Leveling/Scaling - I don’t think the pace of leveling was too slow if anything it felt too fast. Mob Scaling and Aoeing full quests down isn’t exactly fun. I think the power could be turned down a bit to slightly lessen the pace at which we can clear quest mobs.
Leveling Design/Lore/Story/Quests/Hero Talents - This is some of the better questing i’ve seen in retail for a long time. Story is fine, I’m not a massive lore person though. I think the zones flow well together and it worked out well. I wish hero talents were put into the questing as an unlock and tied into the story somehow instead of just placed into the UI as a system for cohesion to link them to the character as a feeling of gaining power.
Dungeons - I haven’t run everything but heroics feel better than normal modes - The AOE spam is out of control in normals and pretty much a joke. I know heroics will be the same in a few days. This has to be addressed.
Hours in a dungeon doesn’t make sense anymore nor does ccing every pack but make some of the packs bolster or enrage in normal mode if you keep chain pulling to add more challenge and slow the overall pace.
Follower dungeons - i don’t think these are the best choice for a multiplayer mmo and the focus should have been put into delves as the single player mode.
Delves - I’ve not cleared them all but I like them. They’re quick enough and seem like they will offer challenge and incentive at higher tiers. Much better than torghast. Could see them implement mage tower stuff into the delve system which would be cool too.
PvP - PvP feels decent, healers are kinda crazy. But my main gripe with PvP and something blizzard desperately needs to address is micro cc and AOE/cleave. Rotational button bloat is getting larger. Mobility creep is still too high and must be addressed.
Class Design - Talent trees are too big and annoying to read. Alot of the talents are still boring for retail standards. Playstyle of certain classes needs to be addressed (see pvp section)
Flying Mounts - I liked it more when we had to unlock flying. The zones are large enough to support full speed flying however I think they could be even larger or have added mechanics to prevent flying in certain areas tied to lore/questing. They did a good job with the zones but they really need to consider limiting flying.
Other things i’ve noticed since im a classic andy and haven’t played retail in ages.
The UI/UX devs are great - I can’t stand being buried in menus and I think they’ve done a good job mostly streamlining it.
Trading post is a good feature and rewards playing the game with out feeling like a grind.
Warband system - is the greatest thing to ever have graced this game.
WoW is missing it’s metal. It doesn’t need less bouncey and friendly PC NPC’s and soft buttery textures. It just needs more grit.
I don’t see the mount zoo, hunter pet zoo, wild transmogs going anywhere anytime soon so we need more OG warcraft vibes - art team pls be inspired by grungy metal stuff and brutal skulls with smoke and fire and steel shooting out of rotten corpses at all angles while on fire, in fire with metal and molten ore shooting out of a bone skull with flames and more skulls and hardness and grit and edge and sick gnarly ice cold chains.
And volcanoes and zombies falling into them and turning into fire zombies and being burned alive and then re re raised from teh dead and then smashed by an abomniation into dust and molded into metal and used as armor pieces for my FIRE DRAGON WITH METAL.
Thanks blizzard, i’m having fun with the TWW so far. Please see above about possible changes. Cya.
