It’s not just Assa - all of the specs are in pretty poor shape going in to the release candidate. Losing the melee range has made the class extremely unfun to play.
Outlaw is in absolute shambles. If I play killing spree, I’m dead. My other option is to play a hero talent that will drop every time it’s up in M+, and might not proc until 2-3 minutes in to a boss in raid. Your reward for playing the class perfectly is to do bottom of the barrel damage.
Since rogues are the least played class, they allocated the least amount of time to them. They also outsourced hero talent idea generation to the manatees that write Family Guy, and put 1st year summer interns to code rogue.
I feel bad for rogue mains. Don’t get me wrong, us shaman are probably hated more by the developers than you are. But rogues are one of the few classes left with only DPS specs. You cannot tank, or heal, or really bring support or particularly meaningful raid buffs. You’re strictly in a Mythic or a Raid to deal damage, and in melee where it’s often more dangerous to do so. And yet here you are, with your leather armor and questionable survivability, doing below-the-tank damage. I don’t think I’ve seen a rogue beat Blood DK damage yet.
Subtlety is in particularly bad shape, but Outlaw doesn’t feel like it received enough meaningful changes and Assassination still suffers from many of the problems that have plagued it for years. I would expect rogues to be one of the highest damage dealing classes in the game, given your generally squishiness, lack of group/raid buffs and inability to take on other roles…
As us shaman copers keep saying “Blizzard hasn’t really done a good tuning pass yet” and it’s true. Hopefully Blizzard can tweek some numbers and bring you guys up. But again, much like shaman, many of your bigger issues aren’t numerical, they’re design flaws or gaps in your core kit.
We’re seeing what resonates with Blizzard’s soul, which is apparently not sound feedback, so some of us have resorted to dramatic outbursts. Thanks for the praise!
Frost DK and Rets do more pew pew at range while hitting like mack trucks in melee. Outlaw has a pea shooter at range and then limp noodle foam bats when in range.
At least Outlaw still has grapple and shadow step and sprint which is better than Ret or Frost DK…
Hunter has 2 ways to get back in melee range as well as disengage to get out. Also the ways hunter gets back in deal damage. Now that they finally fixed survival’s rotation to have all kinds of synergy it’s super fun to play.
yall better QQ on these forums way more. I am a shaman main and we all QQ and we ele got fixed. We now QQing about enhance but i dont see any rogues barely complaining on forums at all, wheres the community at?
It died a long time ago, this is what it looks like when you mostly take things away from a class for a decade+ and rarely improve anything while at the same time improving the other classes. Cata was the last time they seemed to care about rogue. After the mop gutting it’s been downhill from there, and how long ago was that? That’s where the community went.
Ever notice how rogue’s rarely keep whatever they get for an expansion? Yet in most cases other classes keep and have better version’s of what they got long ago today and even more new things.
Compare warrior from cata forward only got better and better and bigger and bigger toolkits more and more survival etc and you can do this with almost everything but rogue. Who’s toolkit and survival has actually got worse over the years past cata.
The rogue “hero” spec trees are a disgrace. Worst in the game and it’s not close. A new intern forgot to do his job and came in an hour early on a Monday when the rogue specs were due in a drunken stupor with zero sleep and threw these trees together. Boring both thematically and mechanically.
