Everyone has their own opinion, but DF → TWW is the first time we’ve had two good expansions in a row since TBC → WOTLK
BfA → SL is the first time ever we’ve had two bad expansions in a row, funny enough.
The “good expansion bad expansion” cycle is lifted.

Or maybe its just doubling up.

Indeed we do. And BfA was awesome.

Sure it’s not two bad expansions in a row considering:
Classic is doing a lot of heavy lifting, just saying.

I liked BfA more than DF.

nothing has come close to legion

I think your standards are very low if you consider DF a good expansion.
At best it was mid. If I’m being critical (which I am), it was super buggy and lackluster.
I would take BFA over DF.
I would possibly take SL over DF. SL was actively bad but it tried and there was at least stuff to engage with. DF was offensively boring.
Running Torghast Gauntlet was something to do, for example.

I can’t think of a single thing that was lacklusted about DF. The zones? The raids? M+? The profession system? All of it felt good to me.
I can think of a lot that was lackluster about BfA and SL though.

Legion was the last time we had actual “new features” added to the game that weren’t a reskin of something that already existed.
The only exception is sky riding. That’s it, that’s the only good new feature that has been added since legion.

Wrath Cata and mop, 3 in a row
Vs nothing since

What was so bad about shadowlands? I remember having fun during shadowlands.
My only issue with BFA was corruption on gear.

This one has way too many bugs to be grouped in there with the good ones. SL wasn’t bad. Most of you just couldn’t figure out the Covenant system and got mad about it nonstop on the forums. You for example. I bet you were full Renown 80 Kyri and couldn’t figure out why A Venth ret on full CDs could do better than you for 30 seconds straight burst or why a Necro did better than you.
I liked SL. 3 max level pallies in it and a Venth warrior too. All did fine.

I have so many good memories of Shadowlands.
Korthia Zone was a pvpers heaven. We had so many alliance vs horde battles standing at the edge of town.

What… BFA or Shadowlands had way more depth than any of Df or TWW combined. Even Shadowlands, which was wonky, was better.
Shadowlands and BFA had things to keep you busy which did not feel like you where doing chores. Mythic+ where you could actually pull proper packs. Everything was reasonable.
Introducing things such as $80 brutosaur, weird time gated modes that do nothing with the main game, gutting M+, Gutting a load of classes, healers and tanks, is all a bad show. It’s clear that they aren’t putting in any effort at all. And we pay $15 for our time to be this wasted.

2 expansions???,
shadowlands was good. I’d say all expansions are at least 9/10.

I’m amazed that despite the overwhelmingly positive reception the focus on class fantasy got Blizzard has spent the last 8 years doggedly insisting on homogenizing the player experience.

That’s because they tried many different concepts. Yes, they failed, but they tried.
How about zone design? Zalarek Caverns was probably one of the most disliked patch zones I’ve seen released. It was a nothingburger.
Fyrakk Assaults? Absolute bug fest. Fyrakk would spent 20 minutes coming, just to reset mid encounter.
The most exciting thing DF did was the timewalking outdoor zone (I forget the name), which ended up being an AFK on pillars while other people mass AOE mobs for 10 minutes.
