Two BSOD's in valdrakken in the last 3 days

Comes out of nowhere, afk in valdrakken’s main plaza, alt tabbed both times either talking in discord or browsing files.
Haven’t experienced it anywhere else or in any other games.

BSOD code is DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION.
PC is well maintained.

Best I can find is this article:

https://www.partitionwizard.com/partitionmagic/dpc-watchdog-violation.html I ain’t got the trust to link things properly.

Know you said PC is well maintained but I’d make sure all your drivers are up to date and such. Alternatively you may want to do an addon reset since addons can throw fits when they’re not updated for new patches.

Likely not related to addons since they’re all up to date.
Ill reinstall my drivers just in case if it happens again.

But honestly, i played a whole lot of tf2 in the last month.
Also clocked 30hrs on the new SystemShock remake, playing it in 4k and i had zero issues.

Its only WoW for now, and both times it happened in valdrakken.
Both times the game wasn’t focused, i was tabbed doing something else.

Well, like I said, addons can cause some wacky things to happen when big patches drop. TF2 and newer games usually just up and work with any external forces, whereas addons add all kinds of QoL fixes.

I’d give the interface reset a shot and go from there.

UI is fine, the first BSOD happened before the update too.

Well, you may wanna file a tech ticket or post in the Tech Support forums. They may be able to provide more assistance. Hard telling if there’s a conflict with addons, with devices or updates.

You’ll want to do the following beforehand:

-Assuming you’re running Win10: Open the search function and type in ‘msinfo’ and then ‘dxdiag’. Save logs of both to add to your ticket which they will give options for.

-On a Mac…I’m helpless. I work IT and I’m sure happy about not working on Macs anymore.

For now, having this thread here and seeing if more people also experienced it sounds good.
If it becomes an issue im replacing my SSD, likely corrupted my drivers, and its about time i replace this old thing.

Certainly okay to have both! I ain’t got any better ideas myself sadly.

I’m hoping you find a resolution.

It would be better served and more beneficial for you if you moved it to the Tech Support forum, I would reckon.

Bet, if a mod could do that it would be cool.

There’s no need to wait, you can click the pencil icon of your first post and do it yourself.

Not sure if it helps. I got that same BSOD when I was working in unreal engine last December. I ran a memory diagnostics and turned out one of my RAM sticks went bad.

Might be worth a shot to check out!

That BSOD is a fancy way of saying something got hung.

FYI, it’s still the fault of the driver or hardware, as a userland application should never be allowed to crash the system. The game could be triggering a driver bug or be doing something wrong, but the driver and/or hardware is still at fault here.

You need to post in the aptly named Tech Support Forum, not the Customer Support Forum, which is for players to assist other players with direction on where to go for the best chance at help. Just note, BSOD’s are usually hardware related so it could be something with your computer that needs resolved. In the Tech Support Forum, make sure to give any codes the BSOD gives as well as the error message.

Interesting.
If its a hardware issue id have to guess its either ram or my SSD.

Could be many things.

I’ve seen unused iGPUs on intel CPUs cause kernel panics until they were disabled in the bios, despite only the discrete AMD/Nvidia GPUs being used.

I’ve also seen one where only the 3.3v rail was sagging, and the PC would only crash when both the GPU and m.2 SSD were under load at the same time.

In the end it could also just be a scuffed GPU driver doing the funny.

It’s combinatorial explosion with trying to figure that kind of BSOD out.
