Twitter vs Official Forums

Why are personal Twitter accounts still being used to discuss and post game news? Yesterday Aggrend posted about Reals dropping from Azuregos, Onyxia, and Kazzak in p5. This was picked up by WoWhead. This is official news. What happened to the official dev account, hm? Why can’t they use their own website and forums?

People who won’t use one third party’s site have to use another third party’s site to scrape the first one instead of just using the official avenues for such discussion and information. How HR at Activizion/Blizzard/Microsoft is okay with this is baffling.

Just use the official forums. It’s not difficult. People don’t want to use Twitter because its owner is a bigot who platforms constant bigotry.

It’s always been an issue. They can’t even be bothered to embed this kind of stuff onto their own official forums.

Unprofessional company

Just wait for them to post “We need to be better at communicating” for the 100th time.

Looking around at the forums, is it really that hard to see why devs wouldn’t want to hangout here?

You really don’t need to actually post it, there’s relay bots that can make posts for you; sort of like a HootSuite, but for forums.

…and if there isn’t one that fits exactly, I’m sure the Web Team could make one.

As opposed to a site that isn’t moderated by Blizzard and has… well, do we really need to go into detail about what the content on Twitter is?

Same can be said for players looking for updates.

and yet responses are 100x more respectful.

I’m just saying, the community acts far worse than anything the devs have ever done. So when wondering why they don’t want to engage the answer is pretty clear.

I love using twitter where the CEO makes remarks like “why hasn’t anyone tried to assassinate the sitting president  ” and then realizes it’s a bad idea, OF bots, and of course live murder and alt right propaganda because freedom of speech.

Surely a much better place to talk about World of Warcraft. “People are more likely to be less toxic on X”…… stares in Nicholas Fuentes

Wasn’t there recent drama over receiving death threats over class balance. Unhinged people will be unhinged regardless of the platform.

Except, if it weren’t the forums I wouldn’t even know what to handles the devs used. xD

I wouldn’t even use X/Twitter if I didn’t have to, the platform itself IMO is horrific. Like everything about it, that social media platform is so much worse and so much more poorly designed than even all the others that I can’t figure out how it has gained any popularity.

So I just go to the bookmarks once in a while that I have for these X dev handles and look at replies too since most of the time the things are in there. Good luck in finding out about random X replies without doing something like that.

As for the forums being toxic well yes these devs think so too, but there are steps that could be taken on these forums to help them from not being “so toxic” and the forums are controlled by the company.

Also, it is possible to be 10x more toxic and even illegal on X than it is on here without the content ever getting taken down, even if the Blizzard devs themselves are treated better there.

I think the devs just post there because they have hoops to jump through and people to answer to when they post here.

They don’t like the forums or team Twitter cause their own personal twitters are easier to fine tune into echo chambers.

The sad reality you have to accept about the classic wow devs is that they are not seasoned game dev professionals.

They have no clue whatsoever what they are doing.

I’m glad they posted here that they forgot MC will be flex as well with this phase. Oh wait, nobody reading the official forums would have known that without a third party site? Dang.
