Twitter® Integration Removed from World of Warcraft®

oh well it’s definitely something really sinister!!! you’re owed an explanation!!!

Didn’t the SELFIE cam toy also go in with 6.1? It’s still around. There’s even an achievement in Dragonflight that requires it.

(I also want to point out how funny it is that they needed to include the registered trademark symbol in the thread title…)

I tried to use it for the make my story thing, which I never even got

It sounds like it was due to changes in Twitter policy, but why not say that?

Blizzard has a bad habit of not explaining things (as they once did well), and it just leads to people making their own minds up about what happened, as I and others just did here.

Elon is going to cry.

You’re right, I didn’t provide a clear explanation of the relationship between the two and cost reduction.

Integrating with Twitter’s API incurs a financial expense. Blizzard likely reevaluated the usage of this feature in light of their financial situation. In the case of a successful expansion with high player retention, the cost of Twitter Integration would be more justifiable as a larger player base would be utilizing it.

But yes, I also went on a tangent around my own issues with the game.

A lot of guess work in this thread. As much as I love speculation, this is the sort of drama weaving that puts this co in hot water, esp. when it comes to things like reworks and balance changes. Transparency is going to be healthier in the long term, always.

how many successful companies have you developed? I really can’t understand why people constantly underestimate him given his track record.

Twitter no longer allows use of their API for free for third party devs. They haven’t announced a price yet but the uncertainty by Twitter means it’s better to remove the functionality until they come to a decision regarding rules/prices for third parties.

Elon? He was born into wealth, and bought fully functioning companies with sweet financing deals of the sort that rich people have access to. He didn’t develop them. Tesla had a department dedicated to keeping Elon distracted so he wouldn’t get into trouble and interfere with company workings.

This whole twitter debacle just shows that a lot of rich people get away with anything because people won’t tell them no and then cover for them. Until they don’t anymore. Elon’s fixation on being an all-knowing technocrat is bringing him down quickly.

that isn’t the truth - if you had actually been paying attention to all the court cases recently you would know it as well.

WoW had twitter integration?

It is totally the truth. Stop getting your “news” from Truth Social.

Elon belongs to a group of technocrats that believe labor is a waste, and one technocrat can do the jobs of thousands of workers, kind of an Ayn Rand thing. He found out after he fired almost everybody that he actually didn’t have a clue how to run that company or keep it legal. And that thing about stiffing employees of the severance pay he promised them…and how about announcing that employees would have to be “hardcore” and sleep in the office?

The guy has never held a real job. He has no idea that you can’t just violate labor laws if you’re rich.

What court cases are you talking about? Hopefully not the defective tesla ones. That’s all Elon’s fault. If it wasn’t for him living off government contracts he’d have to get a real job. But who would hire somebody who lied about their educational background as Elon did? George Santos?

A lot of pathetic Elon simps in here. I shouldn’t be surprised though.

Elon Musk screwed the pooch.

One things has actually good at.

I would think he would know his life and background more than some jealous lefties. And I have never been on ‘truth social’ so I will have to take your word on what’s on there.

geez - no wonder you are so ignorant of facts you have your head buried in the sand.

Twitter should have never been part of WoW in the first place. But whatever, glad it’s going away.

Not enough to pay for the api, 100 a month is just basic tier, blizz would probalby have to pay thousands to keep it. Knew this was coming, I expect same from many big companies. Chief twit continuing to not understand business of social media

Have you seen Twitter lately? I do not blame them, it’s not worth it.
