Only way to stop it is to stop showing support for it really.
Hit them in the wallet as they say.
I miss the times where everything you earn for a game, is earned in the game you play.
I don’t mind outside the game stuff since it’s always totally optional nonsense.

I’ve never seen a game where it wasn’t optional stuff. Battle pet or not it’s still free to earn, easy to earn, and also totally optional.
