Wiped twice on layer 8 at level +16. Total of about 4 hours down the drain. Sucks. I was in a group, and I learned that if my health isn’t above 100k by level 16, I’m staying the heck out of melee range because I would just get bopped, repeatedly. We went from no deaths to 17 in one floor. Again, sucked.
I can’t stand torghast. Somehow we’ve regressed in solo content from the mage tower being balance around individual spec, to visions which were at least consistent difficulty, to torghast being pure RNG. Everything about it’s rng, the powers you get and the bosses you face.
I had a run or two during TC that was failed due to lack of stamina buffs. It’s terrible content design. I’m glad I finished layer 8 I’m never going back.

Just keep at it. All the wipes makes it totally worth it when you clear it. Get that maw mount.
Frost is better than unholy in Torghast imo. You can control the big undead without gimping your dps and permafrost makes you pretty tanky.
Make sure you prioritize survival and base stats. Also get used to death striking. It surprised the heck out of me how many dps dks just do their dps rotation and completely forget their reliable heal.
And whatever you do don’t get tricked into being lazy by floor 10 and 11. The mobs will start hitting a lot harder on 13+. You need all the hp you can get.
There is a rare in torg, death elemental looking guy. Appears in Morg and upper reach areas. Has a anima power called death defiance, always take it especially in twisting corridors as it completely negates potentially getting 1 shot as damage cannot exceed 25% health in a single attack. Helped me beat layer 8 at least, though rng is still rng on whether or not it appears in a run.

the mage tower challenges were fun, but they were balanced around gear for sure, not ONLY spec/skill. Obviously, all the towers were different (tank and healer challenges you come to mind) but at a certain gear point, you could blow through the challenges. TC is not the same beast (at the moment due to average player IL).
Now TC is not hard, by any means. You just need to have an understanding of 3 things, Your class, the boss you face, and your skills based on your class knowledge.
What do I mean? Well, my balance druid, hunter, and warrior are all very different classes. For some of them, bosses are easier, for some trash is easier. But what do I mean? Well for some of my characters I NEED to build them differently with anima powers. People that are above 180 and can’t complete Twisted Corridors shouldn’t be blaming blizzard, they just suck.
Yes, I said you suck. It’s as simple as knowing what powers to take. if you don’t have a crap ton of HP by floor 18, you’re dead. it’s a simple as that. You have to balance defense, offense, and using skills properly as different classes. I’m not trying to be rude, it’s just the truth.

It’s RNG. You can go an entire run with terrible powers. I didn’t have enough stamina because I didn’t get enough stamina powers not because I didn’t take them. You can also get bosses that are harder than others. Different classes have better and worse anima powers available to them. Some classes can one shot bosses others can’t.
The mage tower didn’t have RNG, visions didn’t have RNG, TC is 100% RNG. If your class can solo it at 190 then that’s nice but I doubt a DK could. Or you did it in a group.
I swapped to Paladin for TC ( and honestly for most everything else). DK powers are a joke compared to many other classes/specs. Ret tears through TC and as Prot you’re basically unkillable. Go for it if your goal is to beat it as DK, but if you just want your mount, bite the bullet and play something else.

If you get unlucky you suck at the game. The only thing worth bragging about TC is that I didn’t cancel my sub out of boredom.

Usually if I can do it, you can do it. I did it as a Frost DW Night Fae Dk, this character, when he was at 186.
Although I did not have Observer Zelgar in Layer 18 though. Still, I pumped my health like crazy.
people don’t have to be mad at me because they got unlucky, or can’t complete TC. Just sayin’ there are plenty of DK’s who HAVE completed it…

Who said anything about myself in TC? I haven’t even stepped foot in TC on any of my level 60’s because I personally see it as a waste of time. You do you though.
