So what is the point in being able to breeze through 17 floors like it was nothing, only to come to a complete middle finger by the final boss?
Observer Zelgar - Hits me for 160-200k with just a simple melee attack… I only have 63k hp. I wasn’t lucky enough to get the Maw Rat HP kill booster thing. I’m dealing with the mechanics just fine. The problem is once he’s done casting he one shots me with melee strikes. He has a health pool of 3.8 million.
Am I doing something wrong, or is Blizzard just being jerks with this one?

It happens…it also sucks epically. Got to floor 18 on floor 7 got the movement ghoul and on hunter floor 18 on 8 got the big guy who spawns orbs and stacking dmg buff and then drains you unless you CC him…too much HP Id never get to even 50% sometimes just gotta be lucky with the last boss.
Next time I attempted it I got a much easier boss on my demo lock and finally completed it.
Torghast is just crappy at times.

Sometimes you’re the windshield, sometimes you’re the bug in Torghast.
This is something you have to accept when you walk through the door.

In this case I am the leg of the bug that got slaughtered…
Zelgar is probably the worst boss in TC to encounter.
I’ve never killed him on a floor 18. Only on lower floors.
I cleared TC layer 8, some advice is you need to realize that if a run is bound to fail, start over and do it again.
You also need to focus on defensive anima powers first before offensive, they can make a difference when beating the last boss.
63k hp is definitely VERY low by floor 18. You want at least 150-200k. 100k hp if you have strong defensives.
Alternatively, if you find yourself at floor 17 with that still low hp, you will want to start fishing for the Crumbling Aegis anima power, and then not using it until RIGHT BEFORE the floor 18 boss. That 1.5 mins of immunity should be long enough to kill the boss, assuming you didn’t take trash dps powers too.
Overtuned to heck. I’ve faced him on floor 18 solo, and, after an interrupt or two, it was 3 shot town, and I lost every single life on him … wasted a couple of hours. Vowed to never set foot in TC again.
Unfortunately that happens.
Assuming you have Torghast upgrades up to Cordial, if you are soloing, the only advice I can give you is to reset it as many times as needed at the beginning to get a wing with skeletons so that you will be swimming in Phantasma.
Oh, and doing it on a tank spec makes it much easier.
TC would be fine if it was a curve instead of a wall, people would be OK if they got a sense their run was doomed by floor 7-10 but sadly its usually like you say … a breeze until you just get floored by a mathematically undefeatable Floor 18 boss.
If they are going to have it take this long, the curve needs to be rethought (or the boss design).

He is definitely one of the worst to get on 18.
Actually the difficulty spikes at floor 13, after the second boss.
Its really noticeable since enemies start doing far more dmg and taking longer to kill.
Until Blizzard lets us exit partway through to resume later, and gives us gradual/better rewards as we progress (gear would be nice!) I find it better to just pretend 18-floor Torghast slogs don’t exist.

I don’t know about other classes but i can get a buff that gives me currency every time i spam a spell, i always make sure to grab that early on and whenever i get to the vendor i can literally buy everything he has. Also the thing from the Maw that makes sure you get multiple options is a big help.
If it seems like the run isn’t going your way, don’t be afraid to restart. You should have a pretty good idea by floors 10-13 if you are going to have the basic things you need to be successful. Ask yourself, “What would Kenny Rogers do?”

He’s the hardest boss in Torghast for sure
I just wanted to chime in because I tried a BrM TC8 for fun and got this guy on floor 6. Sure I’m a bit undergeared (171) and RNG gave me 0 health powers (36.5K HP) but I died horribly on this Zelgar trash.
I just never noticed the unavoidable beam attacks when I do this guy on my DK but fix your game…
