Yeah, been seeing a trend with this behavior coming from the supporters. Whatever happened to the good old days when people would just say “Yeah, you have a good point” or “I respect your opinion, I just disagree”? I thought the whole “replying with troll posts” fad died out a decade ago.
Imagine thinking that people use alt codes so that you can’t armory them (which btw you absolutely can, there’s this new thing on computers called a character map).
The vast majority of toons with alt codes in their name have it because the regular spelling wasn’t available. There are millions and millions of characters in this game, most names are taken, hence alt codes.
I took up the challenge and am leveling a healer with no heirlooms in BGs. Also not buying anything off AH for her, only quest items, what she gets from winning a BG, what she can make (LW) and what my JC on that server can make for her. There’s a huge difference between heirlooms and no heirlooms, in terms of health and secondary stats.
Of course there is. They’re very aware of this. People saying otherwise are just trying to get a rise out of others, nothing more. Nobody relevant believes it, so it’s nothing to bat an eye at.
Not to my mind, but since so many people consider them baseline for twinking, and the challenge was to level a healer without heirlooms, I went without. (Back when heirlooms first came out? Oh, absolutely, they were twinking gear. But they’ve been toned done since then.)
My wee healer is not going to be a twink, per the challenge.
I’m curious, why is this a limitation? New Players are going to spend money they way they choose, which will involve the auction house. I could see it as a personal limitation for your own challenge, but I don’t think its typical new players wouldn’t spend money on gear and things.
What’s all this talk about heirlooms? Dungeon gear, BG rewards and some quest rewards are just as strong, if not stronger.
The only real advantage you get from heirlooms are strong weapon enchants that scale well at low levels and even then if you have some gold you can just buy them to put on normal gear as you level.
I think this “New Player Challenge” that’s being tossed around assumes that new players have no gold. Like not even accepting the signing of guild charters for 1k+ gold kind even.
As far as I know all the gear acquirement options I’ve chosen are my choice, not part of the challenge. (IIRC, the challenge was just “level a healer without heirlooms.”)
I’ve become a miser when it comes to gold the last couple years, so it’s mostly that. The rest is a fondness for the old “Ironman” challenge I tried in the past.
The challenge makes no sense because this thread is complaining about twinks ruining brackets. Most everyone, aside from a few new players, are able to make heirlooms.
I never said the challenge was posted in this thread.
The challenge was to level a healer (new character, not new player) without heirlooms and take them into BGs and see how long they lived and how they did.
This “challenge” was brought up after I started my own experience when claims of twinks were ruining Bgs. Like I said before, take out twinks and heirlooms will be the new twinks.
