Some of us have been playing this game for so long, that BGs didn’t give exp. So “stomping levelers” wasn’t even a thing, because they didn’t exist. No one joined battlegrounds to level, seeing as how you couldn’t.
Then all the sudden experience in battlegrounds are added and the “levelers” think they’re entitled to their alternate EXP source, running a queue for random battlegrounds next to their queue for random dungeons. And just hitting whatever pops up first to maximize their levels per hour.
Correct, people like me do think that. PvP is our favorite thing and it sucked that the only way to level was through PvE in ages past. Great change that increased participation, I’m sure.
Now we just need to introduce a (mostly) level playing field that’s similar (but not identical) to the legion system so we can get you back in the queue, tone down a few problem specs like arcane, and most importantly, bring back an even healer count. Voila. BG leveling will be at its peak quality.
For those of you who want collecting 14 murloc nipples to be the only way to level, classic is that way.
My personal experience today and the last few days has not reflected that at all. The algorithm doesn’t appear to even attempt parity. I was in a 1 healer versus 5 WSG this morning. WSG. A 10 man BG for cryin’ out loud. It’s atrocious.
Endgame is another story. Matchmaking appears to do its job very well at 120.
That particular game was in the 80’s but it’s occurred in nearly every bracket that I can recall to my current level (95), if not all of them. Sometimes in our favor, sometimes not.
I’ve managed to win a few despite being horrendously outhealed but that really only occurred on flag maps. On maps like BfG or AB where teamfight presence more or less determines the outcome, having like 0 healers versus 3 is a death sentence. Total non-starter from beginning to end. The only reason I don’t leave those is because I want my stats to be accurate.
On an unrelated note, my winrate has been almost strictly 50/50 for both my alliance and horde characters. Mind you, I’ve done no epics on either though.
Not gonna happen, some people take leveling their alts more seriously than others. So they pimp out their baby warrior and go to town. Which is fine, that’s what I do if I was actually leveling something new to cap. Player versus player by it’s nature will be unbalanced because Blizzard can’t compensate for the lazy guy who just wants to hit the eyeball when it pops up.
I’ll agree with you that PvE sucks though. The whole leveling experience needs a revamp, more than this stat squish thing that is coming will offer.
We almost saw it in legion at endgame. Yeah, there were things like AP that would allow one player to trounce another if they had none, but it was so easy to get and gear itself (other than trinkets) made such a small difference. It’s certainly possible; the question is just if Blizzard is willing to adopt that direction for PvP again. Maybe they won’t but I hope they do.
For BG levelers, the level squish will mean far fewer brackets and far more people queueing for each. Especially for horde, it’ll mean getting much more expeditious queues which is a serious quality of life benefit.
I personally don’t like the legion templates model. Takes too much out of one of the underlying purposes of the game. Zoning into a BG and just getting your stats redistributed feels blah and adversely affects some classes more than others.
More people in brackets is fine. I don’t know how in the hell they are going to condense 8 expansions in 50/60 levels, whatever it is, though. Looks like professions are just going to go down the drain even more than what they already are.
Blizzard wants money. If terrible, unintelligent players that constantly complain unless everything is easy gives them the most subscriptions, they will cater to them.
(people who cry that other players’ characters are more powerful than theirs in an RPG designed fully around improving your player power = terrible, unintelligent players)
The original blizzard is LONG gone and the current abomination of a team does NOT care WHATSOEVER if this game is fun at all.
It’s a shame that leveling BGs are still really fun. I think a big reason being that 90% of players that level through BGs are bad at pvp. I’m unsubscribed right now but it’s tempting to make some leveling twinks to play around with.
I remember kicking your butt a couple times on my warrior, Deso. 1v1 was a pita since you are a paladin though. I at least had a chance; if Abe was in the BG I usually just left. I didn’t see you very often.
honestly… the only people that liked twinks in bgs with non twinks are people who just want a massive advantage and wanna feel super strong. Leave low level bgs to levelers and just go play a new game if all you wanna do is steamroll other people. Problem solved. thanks.
Yeah, I also hate people who think dungeons are for leveling instead of PvE. Those people who think the open world is for leveling instead of questing really grind my gears too. Grr!
Anything that is not max level content is for leveling. Period. Thats how mmos work if they arent sandpark. That means that the priority for that content is for ppl to enjoy it while leveling. Not for some scrub using a massively stronger character to steamroll them while they are leveling and having fun.
