Twilight Dragon Invasions?

So this week there's a new event for the Twilight Dragon Invasions with Island Expeditions. There's a Twilight Avenger mount available, too.

Can someone answer the following:

1) Is there a way to queue specifically for the twilight dragon invasions?
2) If not, are all of the Island Expeditions for the week invaded by the twilight dragons? Or do you just queue for an expedition and cross your fingers that it's a map that has a dragon invasion?
3) The mount that drops is likely RNG related. Do you just kill a bunch of rare mobs and hope at the end of the invasion you get the mount?
Im not home so i cant log in to see what you are talking about. But if its a mount then you have to kill the associated mobs, go through the portal kill the mini boss.

There are stages to IEs, most people never get past the azerite farming, and therefore dont ever get mounts. You best bet is to do this with 2 family members or friends/guildies. No rando group is going to do the farm for mounts and pets and tmog, they will just ruin your chances. All they want to do is get as much azerite as possible and get out. Too bad for them they will never get the mounts.

This is going to tell you how the stages go and other info. https://www.wowhead.com/guides/island-expeditions-random-events-and-invasions

Another thing you have the timer so you have to be careful about not collecting too much azerite too early or too late. And dont let enemy npcs tag the twilight rares or you get nothing. So you have to kill them off if they make a tag.
No you queue for the 3 available to you.

I think invaders are set

^^^ Exactly this. What's the point anymore? Most just want to get the azerite and get out. Good luck.

1) No
2) Its a random chance to see them during any expedition this week
3) Killing any Twilight dragon gives you a chance for the mount to be awarded at the end. Do rare twlight dragons give a slight better chance? Hopefully, but only Blizz knows.

AND...
4) There are multiple layers of RNG on RNG with expedition rewards. So to be honest I would kill any hope you may harbor to get the mount this week. Not trying to be a debbie downer, just being realistic for you since I've done hundreds upon hundreds upon hundreds of expeditions... and gotten 0 mounts.
There’s basically no control over it still. Just queue up as normal and hope that you get the twilight invasion. As soon as you kill a rare or open one of the twilight chests you’ll be eligible to get the mount as a very small chance

That's super disappointing. :( It's such a cool mount!
I like this thread. Op asking a real question, people giving real answers.

Not like some huge deal I guess, but nice to see when things go well.

Agreed! I'll be continuing my attempts to farm the BoP pets from Expeditions this week, so maybe I can see a mount finally as well. But I doubt it =[

There is control, this is why people dont get it. No you dont just go in and do the azerite thing. You have to get a certain amount of azerite then wait for the invasion to pop. The problem is people dont get how it works, they simply go in and speed run it to fill the bar fast and get out. Thats not how it works if you want to target a reward.

My advice to anyone looking to get the mog sets or the pets or the mounts, dont pug. Get a group of like minded people, do some research on what invasions or mobs drop what you are looking for then time your run right.

Especially today. I saw the slew of political posts and thought "Hold on to your butts..."

I guess I'll try my best to get the mount doing the weekly 40k quest but won't hold my breath for it! Hopefully I can get a few guildies to tag along for the ride...

You just went on a little rant about what most people DO know by now.
I was clearly addressing there is no control if you actually get the twilight dragon invasion, because there isn’t. You could still get a pirate or troll etc invasion during your islands this week

sland Expeditions: Random Events and Invasions
Last updated 24 days ago View Changelog
Overview
As players explore the Island and collect Azerite, you will encounter unique and random events that can change the focus of your attention as new large sources of Azerite appear. This guide will provide details on these events and what to look out for when they happen.
What Are Random Events and Why Are They Important?
These events can exist anywhere between the form of bonus objectives where you need to rescue a trapped friendly NPC to large scale invasions of NPCs like Vrykul or Dragons. These events maintain their own unique theme that is different from the rest of the Island theme. So instead of the usual druidic creatures of the Verdant Wilds like bears and cats, you may also encounter raging fire elementals or twilight dragons in the Wilds as well. When these events activate, they will crowd-control all mobs near their spawning location.

These events generally yield large amounts of azerite, ranging from 400 to 2000+, should you complete them. Most of these events will be marked on the map by a if you haven't recently scouted the area. You should always try and fight for these events as they are significantly more effective Azerite gain than just killing mass amounts of regular enemies.
Event Triggers
Every Island Expedition contains 3 major stages of events and invasions that occur after certain amounts of Azerite are collected. The exact amount of Azerite required to trigger these events is different every Island Expedition.

Note on Triggering Events: On higher difficulties of Island Expeditions, Stage 2 and 3 events require significantly more Azerite looted by both teams to trigger. As a result these events (specifically the Stage 3 event) are much harder to trigger as you can often end Island Expeditions before enough Azerite is looted to even trigger them. In short, if you are looking to see these events, you will almost always encounter them in Normal mode, sometimes in Heroic mode, and almost never in Mythic mode. Make sure to let the other team get some Azerite to increase your chances of seeing these events.

Every Island Expedition contains 3 waves of major events or invasions that occur after certain criteria are met. Here are exactly how the events are triggered.
Stage 1: This wave of changes occurs immediately after the Island Expedition begins. This consists of small camps of special enemies spawning in and friendly NPCs getting in trouble.
Stage 2: After some Azerite has been collected between both factions, a single event occurs at a location around the Island offering a large amount of Azerite. As of now this is always the spawning of the Unbound Monstrosity elementa.
Stage 3: When much more Azerite has been collected between both factions, the final wave of events occurs on the Island, consisting of an invasion of new creatures.

This is what you first have to understand. Then you should look at the maps to plot a course. This is how its thought to work for targeting drops...

There are side mobs that drop specific items a loot list is here.....

The point is dont pug, all that will get you is groups of people that only speed run the island and get done. You will have almost a zero chance of getting anything that way. Blizz set it up to seem like all you do in IEs is collect azerite, the rest is hidden and you have to figure it out.

Dunno why you’re responding to me about this. OP asked if you could target the twilight dragon invasions, my first post here answered all that correctly.
But yes, if you want more chances at rewards then don’t pug and target any rare/special chests
