Were anxiously waiting for the patch to fall flat.
When out on the forums, there arose such a chatter,
I sprang from my keyboard to see what was the matter.
Away to my browser, I flew like a flash,
To check for new updates, and hope they weren’t trash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave a luster of midday to objects below.
When what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a new patch download, oh what a cheer!
With a little old driver, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment, it must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles, his downloads they came,
And he whistled and shouted, and called them by name:
“Now, patcher! Now, launcher! Now, installer and updater!
On, keyboard! On, mouse! On, headset and gamer!
To the top of the leaderboards! To the top of them all!
Now download away, download away, download away all!”
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on my drive,
The patching and updating, as it came alive.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
The download was finished, with a triumphant sound.
It was dressed all in code, from its head to its foot,
And its files were all tarnished with patches and soot.
A bundle of new features it had flung on its back,
And it looked like a gift, wrapped up in a pack.
Its eyes-how they twinkled! Its code, how merry!
Its sound effects were crisp, its graphics so airy!
The game was updated, it was fresh and new,
And I smiled with delight, like a kid in a zoo.
The night before Patch 10.1, all was calm and still,
And the players rejoiced, for the patch was a thrill.
So I settled in to play, with my friends by my side,
And we battled and conquered, with new features to abide.
And I heard them exclaim, as we played through the night,
“Merry Patch 10.1 to all, and to all a good fight!”
