TW broken?

Not that it matters anymore but i’ve been leveling tanks. All of a sudden on my warrior I hit the 70’s bracket and its literally impossible to tank TW. Popping CDs careful pulling and the mobs just SMACK. Was level 71 w 606k health and in dire maul mobs have 3m health and smack for 90k a hit. What happened to TW? XD

71+ takes off the training wheels and forces players to upgrade their gear.

My alts that I ignored for most of DF were wearing really bad gear, so I had to upgrade using the TW vendor if I wanted to keep up.

I was doing some alt leveling on a shaman a bit ago we had a Prot Warrior in Deadmines that was 71 that died every single trash pull and then I would be tanking it on my 20 Shaman instead not taking any damage. They ended up leaving because they couldn’t stay alive. He had asked in chat he couldn’t see why he was dying so much at 71 when he’d been fine the last hour tanking. The healer told him that it was due to probably having lvl 50 gear and some of it being greens. After he left after dying again on a boss in 2 seconds and then me tanking it on my Ele Shaman we got a Fury Warrior that was level 11 that tanked everything as Fury and had 0 issue.

After 70 you get into TWW levels. So it will be a lot harder. Gotta get that gear.

Scaling changes, they went overboard this time.

I ran a dungeon yesterday, 3 level 11 EXP locked fury warriors, I just pressed W and literally done nothing else, they took down everything for me.

And when I took my 510 iLVL characters into TW, same thing, go HAM, no issues about dying, no problem with pressing W and destroying the entire place alone, yet around 73-74 I start feeling it and even had a wipe, it’s insane.

Gotchu gotchu thats probably what it was then. Ty!

Scaling basically forces you to actually gear up past a certain point, I’d say 60’s to 70’s is when you really start to notice.

At level 10, you can basically be naked and still top the meters and are unkillable, it’s pretty funny.

The scaling radically shifts at that point. But if you replace your gear with the stuff from the TW vendors you should be OK. May need to AH the pieces the TW vendor doesn’t cover if you have really low gear.

As others said scaling can be very drastic and change very quickly when you hit certain levels.

Healing was super easy 10-20 on holy paladin for example then I started to struggle healing 80’s as I got closer to 30 but I found if I beacon’d the tank then healed another high level dps instead the scaling on my healing multiplied somehow and every heal was healing the tank for 70-150m which has made it a breeze.

Also the fact that you level so fast now it’s hard to keep your gear updated so you fall behind quickly.

Wow “The tuning within”

Where are the TW vendors and do you need to spend badges or just gold?

Look for the gnome with a name that starts with B in the center stage at the Timewalking party in Tanaris. He sells the Timewalking gear. You spend badges, but those are easy to come by.

It’s the scaling. Once you hit TWW the scaling stops boosting your damage and health to lvl 80 and starts treating you normally.

You’ll need better gear, especially if you’ve been doing only TW classic which doesn’t have a drop for every slot (I don’t think).

Id go do the intro to TWW and some earlier quests for gear.

Blizz intentionally nurfed TW badges (60% fewer after TWW release), TW XP, and what you’re experiencing: TW scaling nurf.
There’s big viability problems at level 70-71. I’m not sure if it bleeds into Level 72, 73.
It was their solution to people leveling “too fast” for the first 4 days of early access, then nurfed it down so hard after TWW official release that tanks level 70-71 get trashed, healers heal for virtually nothing, etc.

Good game.

We’re still blaming EA folks for changes to tanking and healing that were announced in DF?

Sorry, did you have an actual problem with limited info that you wanted to look foolish by announcing to the class?

the problem is the difference between your item level and your char level. scaleing goes by char level so you have to up grade your gear as you go.

If you still have that Dreamsurge currency from DF lying around on a char, it’ll help perhaps around this level

update
check the tw vendor he updates his stuff for each char level so that is the item level you should have. If your item level is lower it will be harder, if higher then easier.
