Turning WoW into DnD

Wow is pretty much based off a DnD campaign.

The whole setting is just Jaina’s campaign. She’s still a kid growing up on Kul Tiras and literally everything that we’ve ever seen in a Warcraft game is just her imagining of exciting events in the world. That’s why it was Stonewind in the first campaign but ended up Stormwind in the second, that’s why the world keeps getting bigger — she just makes up new places whenever she needs a new place for her players to go explore — and that’s why poor Azeroth is the center of such ridiculous forces out to destroy it.

Every fanbase has people like that. People want to create orgrinal stories or orgrinal stores within that universe with their own interpretations and etc. Even if it means breaking the rules.

I mean look at how many people worked on Star Wars alone. Nobody told Genndy Tartakovsky that Jedi don’t actually perform half of the things the jedi did in the show that wasn’t in the movies, but we got an awesome mini-series out of it.

When were Ancient Germanic/Viking/Greek/Roman gods obscure? We literally name 5 of our days of the week after them.

Day of the Week Germanic Name Norse Name Greek Name Roman Name
Sunday Sunnuntag Sol Helios Sol
Monday Mānetag Mani Selene Luna
Tuesday Tiu Tyr Triti Mars
Wednesday Woden Odin Hermes Mercury
Thursday Donnerstag Thor Zeus Jupiter
Friday Freya/Frigg Freya Aphrodite Venus
Saturday Saturn Saturn Cronus Saturn

The Ancient Germanic tribes and later Norse tribes just called Saturday, “Washing Day.” They later used the Roman word for Saturday for a shorter replacement. Both Sunday and Monday are dedicated to the Sun and Moon in Germanic and Norse, and to the Sun and Moon god and goddess for the Greeks and Romans, respectively.

Hardly obscure.

Fun fact before Classic 2019 launched I used to hold a bunch of home brew D&D WoW sessions based around fleshing old Classic quests. Was a ton of fun for the Grobbmobbers as we waited for release day.

The demands have passed thru convenience right into unrelenting entitlement.

The all classes for all races threads are especially disgusting to read, given Blizzard has already said they are doing this, have added 19 more in the last two years thus proving their intent and warned that paladin, shaman and druid would be last because they will take longer due to the extra assets that need to be created, yet there were no less than three threads yesterday with people crying for them now! now! now!

And don’t even get me started on the whining over Plunderstorm, an optional mode with inessential rewards, a type of rewards that players asked for instead of player power in non-primary content so they wouldn’t feel obliged to do it, that posters are demanding be changed into a different type of play just for them because they lack discernment and discipline.

Oh, and now there are people in one on-going thread, who cry over grinds, asking for grinds so they can avoid RNG awarded inessential rewards, completely ignoring the reasoning behind why the content works that way.

Yesterday, I got into a discussion with a poster, explaining why their concept to get more rewards out of the Trading Posts would not work because it defeated the point of the Trading Post and their argument basically boiled down to, ‘I want more, more, more so I should have it,’ ignoring all logic to the contrary.

At this point, a part of me feels sorry for Blizzard; it doesn’t matter what they do, they just can’t win.

That’s the fanbase in a nutshell. They don’t care for the history in the games, they just want more for less work.

You’d think they would rise and be better than the devs and writers they despise, but end up being no different.

It’s like with Blitzchung.

TLDR: old men yelling at clouds.

I love all the lore with the original WOW, but all of it has been lost since the first DLC was made. It gets worse with every new DLC, and with every NEW race that is put out.

Perhaps a sarcastic rant isn’t the best way to get that point across.

Not everyone is okay with it. LOL. Although I do believe everyone can have the chance to just literally have a moment in life where you would resort to using fel magic. Imagine a gilnean druid being like “oh nooo, we couldn’t practice being druids, no other human in lordaeron did it, it’s lore breaking” as if people can’t make individual choices.

I feel like the fool for reading even a bit of it.

Thats hilarious. I love when people who like one iteriation of the lore in particular say this. Like wow hasnt been reconning major events since tbc.

I mean need i remind you draeni never existed? That they where originally suppose to a demon race (eradar) and NOT a race that got curropted by demons.

They retconned that so we can have pkayable draeni in THE FIRST EXPANSION.

Theres no established lore just a variation u like best.
