All of a sudden about 2 weeks ago I got the seemingly common issue of the mouse sensitivity spiking insanely high when panning around with the camera, and also when mouse turning my character. A small wrist movement spins the toon/camera around 5-10 times. It’s hyper sensitive and has also impacted my graphics. They warp and it now feels like the game is just running sloppy. I have tried every solution that has ever been listed on the forums / reddit / etc. Console commands did not work, I disabled FPS caps, played with every single in game setting, uninstalled ALL apps related to Wow classic like Discord, twitch, etc. Turned off all overlays. Tried the windows mouse acceleration / high DPI overrides. I spent 2 hours on the phone with a Blizz support person today and we literally reached the point where I was told that all options are exhausted and there’s nothing more that you can do. I still have the issue. I tried switching to a different mouse, lowered the polling rate, uniinstalled the driver software, updated all windows software and graphics card drivers, I completely uninstalled the game and reinstalled it, tried compatibility mode, completely removed all addons. I have tried it all. I even tried running Wow Classic on a completely different computer, and the exact same problem was present. I don’t believe this is something on my end or with my hardware. After the amount of fixes I attempted, i’m convinced this has to be a bug. And I really need some help / attention. It has made the game unplayable and unenjoyable. I just want to be able to play again. Thanks.
Issue ID: #71113040 – This is the ticket thread that everything was done under.
This happens to me as well. I am like 95% certain its a bug. It also happens to a few other people I know. Only in WoW though. But its like a quick spike and it goes back to normal.
Yours is stuck?
Yep, my issue began being intermittent. It would spike when turning / looking around with the camera then go back to normal. Now it is just stuck at hypersensitive. I’m using a 450 DPI setting on my mouse with the camera look speed turned all the way down, and even that’s just barely playable compared to how it was normally running not too long ago.
Is it the same even on another toon? Not sure if mouse settings stay the same between characters. Also, what about retail?
Yeah, it’s the exact same across all my toons (main and alts). And I logged into classic on my laptop and the same issue was present. Which tells me it’s not my setup or hardware causing the problem. I’m completely baffled. I don’t play retail, so unfortunately can’t speak to that.
I wonder if it would be worth installing it just to see if its a Classic Client only thing or a WoW wide thing. Up to you in the end though.
Yeah that’s not a bad idea. Maybe i’ll try that tomorrow and report back.
it is a wow wide issue
try using this command:
/console rawmouseenable 1
you can also disable your FPS throttling in the video settings which should help with the hypersensitive camera
only fix i have found for this is typing “/console rawmouseenable 1” in game, but then the mouse feels kind of sluggish so I then type “/console rawmouseenable 0” and poof no more bugged camera bullcrap
yeah if you enable raw mouse your camera sensitivity goes down. you can then raise the mouse look speed in interface -> mouse to get back to a comfortable sensitivity
Yeah, thanks guys but that console command was one of the very first things i tried. And I have tried it probably 30 times over the past few days. I also tried it in combination with other settings / commands like the /console rawmouseacceleration command. It made no difference at all. I’m honestly out of ideas. I even nuked my computer today and did a clean reinstall of windows as a last ditch effort. Didn’t change a thing. The only things that I changed before this started happening — I switched to a logitech G502 mouse shortly before it happened for the first time. However, it ran fine with no issues for 3-4 days before I noticed the sensitivity issues. Secondly, I removed some of my UI addons, and I installed Elvui and changed some keybindings on the logitech mouse. I had to reprogram the mouse buttons on the logitech G502 to weird keyboard buttons that are unused in order keybind them. keys like " ` " and “.” I have been wondering if maybe I hit some weird keybind or command button combination while playing and it changed something. The other half of this issue is that it messed up my in game graphics. Since the mouse feels accelerated, it has made the graphics choppy and very un-smooth while turning the character while moving…almost as if it’s being sent 2 commands to make the same movement. It’s bizzarre and I have spent hours trying to figure it out. If anyone has any ideas, let me know! Thanks for the replies
I want to check my mouse polling but can’t seem to find where. It’s a cheap Logitech. I have Windows 10. Recently upgraded. Any help would be appreciated
