Turn on pvp

The best part of fresh is pvping while leveling.

The current state of pvp server is embarrassing with people actively avoiding pvp since there is no option to rank while leveling.

If you don’t get anything out of it then I’m sure the novelty wears off pretty quick.

The bigger issue is that it is against the spirit of vanilla to have ranking turned off on a fresh server.

What happens in phase 1 people pve grind non-stop.
Then p2 releases pvp and all they do is grind pvp.

This isn’t healthy or aligned with vanilla, which is about making decisions and balancing rewards.

With pvp from the start it allows players to level slower but rank while doing so. Thus by the time they are 60 they are actually in a very similar place as those who rushed like madman and ignored all other objectives on the way.

The only thing that needs to be balanced is the ranking gear needs to be the level 58 version, or else the 60 ones are too powerful relative to p1 raid gear.

Honor System wasn’t introduced until Patch 1.4.0 which was about five months post launch, so this is actually in the spirit of Vanilla, whatever that means nowadays because clearly nobody can agree on what it is.

Because they were figuring it out.
Vanilla isn’t what happened from 2000-2005.

It is the game and meta that was developed by blizzard and also by pservers for the 15 years that blizzard ignored it.

They should learn from the pserver release schedule instead of trying to force retail rush and grind with these sorts of release schedules.

Vanilla launched in late '04, you know.

But it was in development for years before.

Vanilla isn’t what happened from 2000-2005.

Riiight.

plenty of people are pvping already :expressionless: we don’t need outside forces like muh honor system to pvp.

yeah I think it was 99-04 for dev and then 04-06 release. But 2000-2005 is a clear timeline from no pvp to pvp release…

But either way we are going into the weeds, the point of this thread is about pvp and proper release schedule.

My point was that the original game release isn’t what vanilla is, the game has grown far beyond just blizzard impacts on it.

it makes perfect sense for there not to be any honor at the beginning dude :expressionless: deal with it

It makes zero sense.

Literally forces players to grind pve to be optimal, which is what is happening.

Those that played on pservers know how much more fun the game is with a proper pvp release schedule.

This is making both p1 and p2 way worse than they could be.

uh, yeah, you should be leveling :expressionless:

Yeah, most people’s vanilla experience was rolling on a fresh server in 2005-2006 with the honor system already in place. I did the launch too, but by far the most fun was had on these fresh servers where you could level in pvp. That’s how they should be doing it, but then raid logging dads complain and Blizzard bows to it.

Honour system wasn’t available during vanilla launch. so it is aligned with the launch experience of OG vanilla

It’s kind of an awkward situation

It only takes what, 8 weeks to go from 0-14 or so, and while you gain less honor as a whole at low level, the caps are also low at low level.

On pservers it was 0-14 in 3 months (if you were br1). Meaning you wouldn’t see a decent amount of r14s until well into BWL, because of the OG brackets

The thing with this new system is its stupidly easy to cap

If they had released honor at the start you could easily have thousands of r14s on week 8/9, and we probably won’t see bwl for 12 weeks

While I want pvp out now I think it’s fine to hold it off (but not for long) just because of this. You’d have certain guilds with a full roster of rank 14 warriors while majority of the server is still getting into MC on average. The pvp is dumb fun when everyone is wearing rags and swinging planks before everyone starts hitting the real rank
