Is there an addon I could use to stop that from happening? For some reason every time I log in on an alt who has only learned cooking, I end up in my cooking equipment, and for those that use a shield, it hides the shield.

Not permanently no, if you use your profession, it will turn itself back on every time, it’s the one option they forgot, permanently off. But for some dumb reason none of it is working for my alts who have not yet learned a primary profession except cooking.
EDIT: Yeh I just went back to the profession person, only options are to limit how much you see, not off permanently, which even that is annoying because it never turns itself back off when you are done.
only while you’re using it… then it goes away again

Never does for me on my main, I have to always remove the buff once I am done, and again, every time I log into my alt my cooking stuff is back on for whatever reason, I don’t even do cooking on that guy.

Limit how much I see my crafting equipment.
Hide my accessories and only show my tool while crafting
I want to see my crafting equipment.
Show it when I craft and leave it on afterwards.
If either one of those options aren’t working as intended, you should probably file a bug report.
Keep in mind there are different options for crafting, gathering, and fishing.
Make sure you’re choosing the appropriate option each profession

After doing a quick search I can see the bugs have been reported since December.
So again, is there an addon that can stop this from happening?

Mine works correctly now, on all my characters. It was bugged in the beginning. The profession equipment is displayed during use, then switches back to my weapon. Not sure if it can be set to never.
The only one I leave displayed is fishing, so my underlite angler abilities work after a single cast.
It can’t, and it should be able to. I know there is an addon that sets it to show, I can’t remember the name, but I don’t know if it can turn it off completely, a Google search gives me nothing.
At first I thought this was going to be about something else. Awhile back when I first crafted my engineering goggles, I noticed they not only could not be xmogged into something else, they could not even be hidden.
At this point it’s sort of moot I guess since there’s so much better gear that’s super easy to obtain. It was still annoying.

I looked through TomCats addons, and couldn’t find anything which looks like it might work.
There’s a NPC that is supposed to do this, but it never worked for me. In theory, the accessories no longer show up but the tool(s) will.
Who is this npc?
A tauren named Mahra Treebender. She’s somewhere (don’t remember exactly where) in the crafting area of Valdrakken and at Ruby Lifeshrine

A female Tauren by the cloth profession trainer. Shes on the ground sitting unless talked to by someone. She will have the options to turn off profession trainer equipment. Her name is Mahra Treebender. There will be options you got to read but there should be one for each profession you have. The equipment should stay off until you talk to her again to turn them back on. A patch might undo it but should be prement until something changes that cause it to undo

Leatrix Plus allows you to permanently disable the shoddy profession equipment.
Leads to some funny results like mining with your weapon, but well worth it.

This has been my solution since they added it into the addon. Works great. Didn’t even know there was an npc until looking at this thread.
