On one of my Horde characters I turned off experience cuz I like to do that sometimes. But I was wanting to get exalted with my Guild. I am gaining Reputation Horde, Orgimmar, Bilgewater etc, but not with my Guild. Anyone know why? Sorry I have to do this by Editing my post I forgot to select a Timeline. Now I am gaining rep with the Guild.
From memory, I think you have to be wearing your guild tabard while getting XP from dungeons and quests (or any XP-giving source) in order to gain rep with your guild.
It could also be because:

You’ve turned off experience gains (which blocks guild rep too)

You’ve hit a weekly cap
-
You’re not in a guild group for the activity
