Slight nitpick… but I just find this annoying and couldn’t care less that someone hit 60. Any way to turn this off?
It’s under interface in options.
Just type announcement into the search bar and there’s a checkbox for max level announcements.

I kind of like it. But I do wish it included the player’s class and faction. Sometimes the name is a dead giveaway, but that would be interesting to me.

Yeah, it would be more helpful (and more fun) if the announcement included the faction, race, and class of the character who hit Level 60.

Yea more information would be nice 
I actually like the announcements but I don’t like the sound effect associated with them. For a while there the opposite faction on my server was getting a new 60 every couple minutes and it was getting annoying.
It’s a bummer I can’t just disable the sound effect.

Once you disable that, change Deathlog to make the cheer sound whenever a 60 dies.

After a 59 died, someone typed “imagine dying at 59, dogssh1t player”.
I LOL’d pretty hard at that and at the ensuing hate replies.

the sound of some crowd cheering is totally immersion breaking 
if it didn’t have that it would be fine
Better than getting hate whispered by 40 random people when my 60 mage died in Strat I guess.
Wonder if someone could make an add-on or weak aura that added that info.
