Turbo Cleave Troubles

Hi guys,

Hard stuck 1675-1725 holy paladin here looking for advice on how to do better with Turbo Cleave. My team and I have almost 800 games played together this season and found ourselves steadily climbing, maxing out at 1764. The past 2-300 games we’ve hovered around 1700. It feels bad spinning our wheels.

The average ilevel on our team is around 215. I think our gear is decent enough to push to 1800 unless I’m missing something. I’d say 70% of the games we play around 1700 MMR we are outgeared.

We don’t zug as much as we used to. We do decently matching cds with enemy teams and generally understand the flow of our comp and where the damage comes from. My impression is that we could improve on CC but our kit doesn’t offer a lot.

Anyone out there experienced with turbo have any advice to help us push through to 1800? Thanks in advance to all you readers!

To be honest there is not much you can do just keep playing and approving. Setting up Go’s and cc would be the best way to improve… such as stormbolt, fear, HOJ, a well timed stun could be the difference maker. The 1600-1800 bracket is truly disgusting this season and not worth pushing IMO… the games that you are losing could be determined by gear who knows… but obviously it sucks when your team is out geared 90% of games.

What comps give you trouble and do any of them have a hunter in it?

Asking for a friend.

Don’t take too much zug out of your sails. You can theorycraft cd trading till the cows come home but there’s a lot to be said for some unwarranted aggression and how hard it can throw off the balance of an uncoordinated team (most at that mmr.)

As turbo at your mmr I would try tunneling healers in openers, cc the dps, and then decide your kill target based on who trinkets and what cd’s you get.

Say you’re against ret war, have the war double fear them, cover the war with a hex, you stun the dps who trinkets, all while your boys are doming enemy healer in a storm bolt. Do all of this fast and you’ll get cool downs- capitalize on those cds. War trinkets? Next stun dr, hex the healer and swap in a bolt and you can rep/hoj the ret.

Create 3v1’s or you’ll have a really hard time killing anything rn

Honestly could be some of your problem. A lot of turbo relies on your warrior and shaman. Basically, your warrior has to play goalie for your shaman, because you warrior shouldn’t be dying, while your shaman slams.

Worst advice ever lol.

OP, it’s absolutely worth pushing. I don’t have any experience running turbo but provide a little more insight if you can. Which teams do you lose to? What dies most of the time? You have hoj, rep, hex, stormbolt, and fear to get solid cc when you need it. Is the war venthyr or kyrian? Are you venth or Kyrian?

Your DPS probably aren’t doing enough damage or your shaman isn’t doing enough healing. Your shaman should be helping heal a lot between h pal CD’s and then you should just be going full ape when they’re available to force as much out of them as possible

I’ve been playing at the 2k to 2.3k cr range. Basically the warrior should be in battle stance when he still has trinket and switch to dstance when trinket down or focused. Basically warrior has to be doing more damage if he is venthyr.

Thanks for the responses so far! The comps that give us the most issues by far are other melee cleaves. Ret/dk/disc, walking dead, TSG are our nightmares. They seem to train my dps initially and then swap to me once I’m behind. Looking at our stats on reflex, DKs alone have lost us almost 300 net rating.

As for our covenants, all 3 of us are venthyr. I understand it’s not meta for myself, but Ashen Hallow go BRRRR as most of you know. My throughput hasn’t seemed to be an issue in most games - its landing a kill within our first 2 gos we cant seem to do.

I imagine playing into an OOM/damp strategy is not ideal for turbo. That’s how most of our games go - long, drawn out wins.

Very appreciative of all the feedback so far. My team and I are going to put it to good use!

A really good thing against melee cleaves is have the shaman kite when intervene and hpal defensives are down. Warrior can piercing howl and hamstring. In addition if warrior is venthyr, he should go first soulbind and door of shadows disorient the melee.

This is the issue right here, you need to ZugZug more

i haven’t q’d any turbo this xpac thanks to the lovely gearing system, but this is exactly what turbo has done for the past several xpacs. whenever i lose to turbo, my healer is usually out of mana
