Anduin returns to Stormwind but Turalyon refuses to give back the throne for fear that Anduin will be an incompetent ruler from being absent for such a long time and out of touch with current events.
Civil War ensues. Horde doesn’t care. Other Alliance leaders are upset but leave the humans to sort it out.
The setting still has him as the rightful king, so barring some massive character assassination, Turalyon would be painted as a dictator and a bad guy.
And this is WoW where the bad guys don’t win. QED, Anduin would win.
I don’t think nations ruled by monarchies care if someone is “fit to rule.” It’s about the bloodline, which is why they’re ruled by a king or queen in the first place.
You speak in the presence of Sarro, the First of His Name, Warchief of the Horde, High Warlock of the Horde, Lord of the Shadow Council, Master of Demonic Arts, Bringer of Chaos, called Sarro the Destroyer, the Dark Conduit, and the Fel Binder.
I mean against an has-been hero turned Lightforged who may be part of a hyper-zealot army and a boy king who spent most of his rule captured and corrupted…
Its not about being “worse.” It just makes no sense. Anduin is the rightful ruler of Stormwind. And any faction leader that tried to take that position would be attempting to overthrow Stormwind’s government.
The alliance isn’t the horde. There is no warchief. Every race is an independent faction that has agreed to help each other.
It’s been a long time since any Stormwind nobles showed up in a story or expressed any agendas. So I don’t feel I have any idea what a leadership crisis would even look like.
