Hey fellow players, my dad, Ed, played WOW from vanilla till last December when he passed.
His main toon was Aidin, a dwarf warrior, mainly tank.
He spent most of his time in the guild Prosperity and the last few years in WeDaBest
All of his toons were in the realm of Vek’nilash.
Deeker was the guild leader, some key players I remember are
Fonty, tiny, Eric, chill, Renttokill (Sam cambell), Ryan C, muffins, tankyspank, Silenceikillu, annie, zap.
I would sit next to my dad and watch for hours and thought it was the absolute coolest thing ever; they’d talk on vent all night long as if they were at the bar shooting the sh*t.
Raid time came and the whole atmosphere changed, my dad’s headphones went on, he straightened up in his chair, vent went to an almost serious note, it was TANK TIME!!!
Deeker would assign spots and jobs (adds, soaks etc.) and my dad would pull every boss, WHAT A FEELING FOR AN 8-YEAR-OLD!!
I’ll never forget when they made it to LK 25H, and everyone hoot and hollered when he went down.
When he wouldnt play, Early Saturday/Sunday mornings, as soon as i got off school till he got home, id play my own toon, starting off as a warrior (obviously because dad was lmao)
That was until WOTLK dropped and i made a DK, Thginkkhtaed, Death knight spelled backwards (original right?)
THEN THEY LET ME RAID ONE NIGHT!!!
Talk about feeling the pressure lol i was just a DPS but still I was “with the big guys”
By the time they had let me obviously they were just farming King to gear the guild but what a feeling haha
Everyone I mentioned above knew me as well. Everyone called my dad Ed, and I was Lil’ Eddie. They weren’t just other players in a game, they became very great friends among each other for 15 years. Ages from 30-60.
Not really sure what I’m searching for? More Stories? The laughs he made? The good times in raids? What people thought of him?
Not sure… just had to try I suppose. Thanks
