Trying to level in any contested zone is impossible at peak times

I’ve been leveling in STV for the past few hours and during this time have had to make more corpse runs than I have had to do for the rest of my leveling experience. There are level 60s ganking indiscriminately, even when they observe me NOT killing injured opposing players or those lower level than me. There is no counter to a level 60 running you down on their 100% speed mount and oneshotting you because they’ve finished raiding for the week and are bored, unless an allied 60 just happens to be in the area. This has pretty much killed my motivation to play for the rest of the day.

I for sure won’t be resubscribing if the rest of my leveling experience is this miserable. I only have a limited amount of time to play each day. I do not want to spend that time making corpse runs.

Before you ask, I rolled on a PVP server because my friends did then subsequently abandoned the game and I do not want to lose my character’s progress. From what I can understand, a majority of servers have somewhere between an extreme and a slight horde bias in terms of faction ratio.

Reroll on a carebear server if it bothers you. This is original WoW – your server choice has consequences. Take your lumps, roll an alt, do whatever – but nobody chose the present situation but you.

That’s a lot of time to stay in the same area, doing the same thing, considering…

Have you considered going to an area where you’re not getting killed?

No, it’s because they are bad players, especially bad at pvp

I can guarantee that these same people tried to kill people their own level in Blackrock Mountain or EPL/WPL, and couldn’t. That is why they decided to start ganking greys, because they got tired of losing against players their level

Sorry this is happening to you, but remember, only scrubs and bad players gank greys. Can’t pick on someone your own size, go for the weaker target

STV and Hillsbrad are war zones for both factions. Maybe spam SM runs and level past STV imo.

Seriously. STV is bad, yes. I’m fishing there right now, and a little while ago, another person referred to the zone as ST-Vietnam in General chat, which I thought was quite apropos.

If you can’t level there, skip it – go to Alterac and grind Ogres or Yetis. There aren’t enough quests to get you to 60 without grinding anyway, so one may as well just suck it up and do it.

i gank lowbies specifically for these threads.

No, you actually lose to people your level, then gank lowbies, then make up excuses as to why you do to try to sound edgy

You can lie to me, but not to yourself

I’ll take Baseless Assumptions for $500, Alex.

“This assumption is often made by salty MMO players who’ve just been killed by another player against whom they have no chance to win in order to make themselves feel better about having had their progress interrupted.”

Oh snap, a daily double.

I feel you, that is exactly why I named my character dontgank. So I won’t have to deal with that stuff.

Does that actually work?

STV is bad on a pve server…would be absolute chaos on a pvp relm. I probably wouldn’t even quest, but do dungeons or just kill things close to my level in a quiet area away from quest hubs.

I had about 380 days /played in vanilla. Most of that in pvp

I never once met someone I considered a good pvp’er who said “hey, you know what I like to do? Go and kill grey cons for a few hours”

The people that killed greys were all bads

That being said, I think I was only ganked like 4 times from level 1 to 60 in classic, so I certainly wouldn’t have any reason to have a chip on my shoulder. My server seemed to have been pretty chill about leveling, at least during the time when I was doing it

No, no it does not xD

I’m not trying to belittle you here - but if your progress has stagnated due to the inability to do anything other than corpse-runs, then mightn’t you be better off to simply park that character where it is for the time being and start fresh on another realm? At least there you would be able to get something done with the limited play time you have each day and at least feel something positive coming from it?

Homie, this is called confirmation bias.

I’m not even 60 in classic yet, and I’ve been ganked several dozen times, usually by level 60 characters, often while I’m in combat with two or more mobs. It’s a PvP server – you take your lumps.

And you give them. The fun of the server type is in knowing that you need to keep your head on a swivel to avoid death. I might not go out of my way to kill other players, but anybody of the opposite faction, at my level or below it, who looks too comfortable around me gets a blade in their back.

If there’s no risk, then there’s no point in being on the server type anyway.

Have you tried Gankmeplz? Maybe some reverse psychology will work!

You will never see a pvp’er who is considered skilled by a majority of players ganking greys. Ever. Look at any streamer who has gotten top 10 ranking in arenas that’s now playing classic. You’ll see them dueling the best of the best on their server. Know what you won’t see? Them ganking greys

Ask around, once BG’s open and you start figuring out which players make up the best BG groups on the server. Ask them how much of their time they spend killing grey cons. Do a few surveys

There are basically 3 calibers of pvp’ers in wow, good players, decent players, and bad players. The bad players gank greys. That’s all there is to it

Ganking is the only difference between PvP and PvE servers. If you don’t like ganking, why roll PvP?

Don’t sniff your own farts too deeply, bud. You are quite simply not correct, and you’re making a sweeping generalization based on a ludicrously minuscule sample size.
