My warrior is 1800 this season, and it was a cheese compared to my lock. I got to 1500 or so and then knocked down to 1350 and am now stuck around 1400-1450 queuing into nothing but DKs Rets and Ferals. is it really this hard to gear this late in the season?
Yes, for the “muh rpg” crowd this is how it’s supposed to be. Getting blasted every match is a fun experience you should look forward to

Yeh everyone else is kinda already geared or has their gear upgraded at this point or has had it for awhile. Blizzard should give us a conquest catchup where if you fall x weeks behind your conquest earned is amplified by 2-3x.
An Interview w Holinka has basically already said that this won’t happen, or they’ll atleast look into it but he basically said “Well, back in the day there was no conquest/arena point catch up so if you fell behind that was that”. Seemed to also forget there was only 1 set of gear and not a grind to upgrade the gear 5-6x. Also with it being the last week of the season conquest earnings should be 5x what they are so people can just get their stuff in preperation for next season. No real reason not to.

The crazy thing is this is the type of thing you’d expect in TBC since its outdated.
But we’re 10 months in and still no gear catch up for alts on retail. Yikes

Tbh after gearing 3 priests this season the only relief I feel from completing the gigantic conquest bar is that I no longer have to arena until the next big conquest bar shows up.
I want a real reason as to why they are so opposed to letting people gear alts faster. I’d assume like we all pretty much meme about it’s time played metrics. But I’m really not satisfied with that answer. Making conquest gains faster hurts literally no one.
I know certain classes you can gear easily as far as getting wins/rating but the amount of conquest per win is pretty bad.
I was recently able to hit 1800 on my Alt Priest with only 184 Ilvl.
You can win games with low gear if you outplay the enemy.
In my opinion the gear was not really a big issue even with 22k health up until 1650+
Holy Priest may be well equipped to heal with minimal gear though. Can’t say other classes could do the same.
Having 20k HP as a warrior you’re completely useless.
But as a pally, priest, mage you can still CC or immune out of situations long enough for your geared partner to win you the game. So yea it really does depend on what class you are. What’s funny is 99% of the players who claim on forums they reach 1800cr with 185 ilvl are priests. Don’t see a DH doing the same

yeah and BIS pvp gear was available to everyone, the base set could be acquired in 1-3 days of a few hours per day, and the power gap between the base set and the BIS was small and without any extra power deltas like borrowed power and legendaries, and pvp gear had pvp set bonuses that made it preferable
holinka was just trying to PR spin the management decision

I honestly wouldn’t mind the grind if ilvl jumps weren’t so big especially at bracket cliffs.
I’ve just accepted the suck. It is in fact an RPG
It needs to suck less tho, more weeklies and incentives to play with the same ppl for a “party bonus”

Yeah right now I’m trying to gear up. What’s sad is I’m at 1550 mmr with 176 ilevel I know I’ll have to tank my mmr. Just so I can get wins again to full fill the enjoyment of reaching enough conquest to buy gear lol. Good system blizzard.
All depends on how good/experienced you are on the class. Not to be rude or disrespectful, if 1800 is where you belong, you should be able to get there again, especially as sample size of games increases. I’ve hit 1800+ on every single class/spec gearing up this expansion and despite all the booster crying wolf, it’s absolutely achievable… The only really hard parts are the ret paladins with RBG gear XD

Just so happens I posted an image of my REFLEX and me and my 23k HP DH climbing. Neither me or my partner had gear and he was a DH.

Also I know the MMR in the screen shot was like 1400 but also we were both like 159 ILVL in that. By the time we were around 180 ILVL we were hitting 1800.
Exactly my point. Shadowlands is the only expansion ever where getting rating with low gear is a bragging right. Proves how important it is in comparison to Legion where you hit lvl 60 and can jump into an arena, gain rating, and not brag about how your gear wasn’t holding you back.
the honor grind is insane in shadolands…even cutting it in half wouldnt do enough justice…cannot even have more than one alt
